• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SHIFTING PROBLEM

On an SM it shouldn't change the shifting at all, only the display (ie it might not tell you you are in neutral even if you are). On an SE it sounds like it'll do all kinds of weird stuff.

Finding neutral mechanically or on the display?.

Thanks. I'm having a mechanical problem, it skips through neutral going up from first or down from second. I'll see what happens after the next oil change.

This type of problem has two typical causes. The first, unfortunately is an operator thing. Some people have little feeling in their feet, coordination issues, thick boots, limited ankle mobilty, etc., and cannot feel or find the half detent for neutral, which is not a hard stop like the other hears. The other cause is mechanical...usually either a worn or faulty detent on the shift plate, or a weak position spring. Ride another Spyder, perhaps a demo. If you still have the problem, it is you. If not, it is a warranty issue. Have the dealer test ride both and compare, in order to show him.

I haven't had a problem with it since new, about 12K ago, and have been riding for almost 50 years. It showed up recently about 1K after my last oil change, and I didn't use BRP oil as I wanted a full synthetic. Can't remember the exact oil I used, but it was definitely for motorcycles and the correct grade.

SpyderWolf and I got our bikes back yesterday (they did it while we waited). We got the latest update and he got the gps done. They now purr like kittens! Downshift normal and show correctly on the dash. Hope this fixes your problem!

George, are you looking in the right place? On my SE5, Neutral is between Reverse and First.
