• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

my spyder started doing weird thing today and it was erratic ...so it didnt happen all the time.... it is an sm5 ...when i pulled up to a stop light and down shifted every once in awhile the gear light would say "E" until i kicked down or lifted up on shift lever and tonight when i was in reverse and shifted back to first i started going forward but dash was still showing "R" with lights flashing like i was in Reverse still.... then when i got home i shifted into "N" to get off and open garage door and the dash showed "N" but i was still in 1st ....anybody????? Scotty????:shocked::shocked:
also i know GPS has to be changed cuz power steering still doesnt work part is at dealer going in next week for it...not sure if that might have anything to do with it ...but never had this problem before...

My wife had a strange shifting problem while riding my SE5, which is part of the reason we are going to see the dealer in the morning. She also said it showed an E on the dash. The bike has been off for 5 days, and I just rode it tonight without any problems at all. In her Hincky Shifting thread other people recommended replacing the SAS, perhaps the GPS, along with getting the grounding wire and latest update done.

Hopefully the new part they have waiting will be the cure for your trouble.

Even on standard transmission ?

Yep mine was doing that too. It got so bad at the end that to go up the street in first gear I looked like a noob learning to drive with all the bunnie hoppin it was doin. I had to floor it a light up thew tire to calm it down.

Would a tell tale sign of GPS problems be difficulty finding neutral?
On an SM it shouldn't change the shifting at all, only the display (ie it might not tell you you are in neutral even if you are). On an SE it sounds like it'll do all kinds of weird stuff.

Yes the bike is shifting fine it's the indicator that is off sometime

Finding neutral mechanically or on the display?

If you're in neutral and your display is showing another gear or the 'E' message--- then your GPS is most likely in need of replacement and/or adjusting.

Yep, sure sounds like the GPS is the culprit. When it is defective, it can't tell what gear you are in and you will get the error message. Consider yourself fortunate. In my case, I got multiple error messages, and the Spyder went into limp home mode at a couple of inconvenient locations (on I-75 and one of the 400-series highways here in Ontario :yikes:). Replacing the unit should instantly cure what ails you.
