• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shifting into first gear

Interesting. ...

Not having dealt with the 1330 triple I would wonder it those that changed over feel the same clunck as the 998 twin. The twin is like all of them harley indian victory etc big clunk but the rpms on the 1330 are lower than the twin...:dontknow:

My 2016 F3S does it when it's cold on first time, after that it's not as bad. N to reverse is normal shift no clunk wether it's cold or hot. It has bothered me also first time always so loud of a clunk I think it's going to break a gear tooth. 1,500 miles now and it doesn't bother me as much any more. I compare it to my Indian or my previous Harley's and it's just as bad. It's normal, keep on shifting and ride like there's no tomorrow. :2thumbs:

In my RT-S owner's manual, they call it "positive engagement". Perfectly normal. In fact, if my machine quit doing it, I'd be worried. :)

When I shift from reverse to first the shift is so quiet the only way I know for certain it shifted is hit the throttle. If it moves forward it shifted!

Mine doesn't clunk every time but most of the time. And I let mine run a couple of minutes when I first start it. Doesn't make any difference. Then comes the smyle and the ryde!!!:yes::yes::yes:

This type of "clunk" is normal when going from natural to first or reverse. When it is already in gear, the innards don't rotate freely. As a result, most shifts from first to reverse or reverse to first are just about silent. Again, this is normal for almost all wet clutch bikes.

IMO--they (998 and 1330) are both very similar with the initial clunk.

The earliest of the Victory motorcycles had a transmission that was pretty notchy, and sometimes made you wonder if the gears were still in the cases... or on the ground! :yikes: nojoke
They finally came up with a fix, and I never heard any significant complaints after that.
