• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shifting in the neutral at stops.

I have found out long stops at red lights that once in a while my 2016 RT shifts in the neutral. It doesn’t do it all the but time, but about once per ride. Now two things are either happening. It’s shifting by itself or I am in advertently hitting the paddle while waiting for a light. The problem is usually my hands are off the bars when I am at a red light. Anybody experience this with their Spyder?

They usually stay in first gear unless you hit the paddle shifter. I have not had any problem with it shifting into neutral while waiting at a light. If it is going to be a long wait, I do shift into neutral manually.

If I'm stuck at a real long light, or worse say at a road construction flagger stop, I don't even bother to shift into Neutral. I just set the parking brake and wait out the delay.

Mine has NEVER shifted into neutral on it’s own. The only time has been either I have purposely shifted or at startup time. I try to remember to shift it into neutral when I park it. Mine’s a ‘14 RTS.

I’ve got this! I found that at stoplights I’ve been hanging my hands over the bar right at the wrist. Unbeknownst to me my thumb was resting on the paddle shifter. One minor twitch from my thumb and into neutral it goes. Problem solved. It is said that the mind is the second thing to go, but I beg to differ. It’s the first!

Just my personal opinion but I would NEVER shift into neutral at a stop light or in construction. If I need to move out of someones way (like they're barreling down behind me, etc), I don't want to waste that extra split second shifting into gear before I crank on the throttle to get away. I just want to twist the throttle and GO. Same reason I wouldn't set the parking brake. Again, just my opinion. Keep in mind that when your Spyder is at a dead stop, it's not technically "in gear". It's like if you have the clutch pulled in on a traditional manual shift bike. If you're going to be sitting for hours or something, I'd just pull over and shut the bike off. I'd be more concerned with the bike overheating than anything else.
