• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Our 2011 RT manual shift makes a clunk sound when shift into first, since the first day we bought it new.
mechanic says that is normal for the manual spyders
what do you think

Normal on the Spyder, And for that matter on just about all bikes.
My 929 sounded like you hit the case with a Sledge, And my Tri is almost as loud.

Normal

My BMW rt1100 clunked hard going into first gear. 60K miles later still clunked and running strong...Normal

I'll be the odd man out here............

My 2010 RT clunked going into first, and I had a hell of a time finding neutral.
The OEM clutch wore out at 18K.
I think something was hanging up in the clutch.
The dealer installed a new clutch, taking care to make sure it was done right.
I now get a snick instead of a clunk and I can find neutral quite easily.

Happens on my Spyder, happens on my Suzuki, happened on my V Star 1300T and happened on my Royal Enfield. I think it even happened on the RD400 and XS500 I owned in the '70s.

I guess I really didn't notice it much but my 2011 RT Limited also "clunks" going from N to 1st. But it is very quiet compared to the Harley Ultra Classic I had prior to the Spyder. I think anyone within shouting range could hear it shift into 1st.

Thanks for the posts, I'm just worried coz it's not only clunking from n - 1... But when it's gearing down from any gear it makes a big noise. Never done this before and iv done over 20 000km...

I only hear a loud clunk going into first or reverse

I only hear a loud clunk going into first or reverse - otherwise don't hear it downshifting or upshifting. Thanks,;)

Maybe you need to adjust the clutch lever a little to avoid some of the clunk.
