• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SHIFTING AND RPM'S

My total :spyder2: miles are running about 58,000. Hope to have at least 70,000 by the end of the 2013 season.

I know we all want to look at speed, but on my RS and my RT.... I was told to look at RPMs. I do not shift up unless I am over 5K and downshift if I am at about 3.5K. Depending on what gear you are in your RPMs will be different on different speeds. I agree with many of the above.... in town I can't shift to 2nd unless I am over 5K. Riding back roads and even on the highway I am often in 4th gear and stay there if I expect speed to be going up and down. Remember these are Rotax racing engines.... They love high RPM

Thanks Bob for the clutch info.

I feel much safer in city traffic to be revving around 5 to 6 grand. That way if you have to quickly get of someone's way the bike will practically jump when you hit throttle.

do not be afraid to wind the rpms up on these bikes... rotex engines love the high r's..if you bog them down constantly the engine can and will load up and run sluggish...it also keeps your internal parts cleaner and well lubed...after the breakin period dont be afraid to hit 8000 -even 9000 your bike will run much better...it will appreciate you for that...
