• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

what is the general consensus for shifting the se5...have a new RT and am unsure if I should back off the throttle when shifting...advice from the pros please...thanx

:agree: I used to roll back the throttle for upshifts, but then tried some upshifts without doing that and quickly figured out that the computers were rolling it back for me!

Throttle Back

My salesman and also the mechanic tlold me it was not necessary to roll back when you shift. He likened it to "speed shifting" which i'm doing. Seems to work for me.

2011 RT Limited

Hope that helps you

:agree:all good advice. There have also been a couple other threads in the last 24 hours about shifting. Check out "smoother shifting" for some additional information.

Hope this helps you.

I have the same :spyder2: and the salesman told me to back off of the throttle. HAHA I'm glad I ran across this I didn't really have a lot of confidence in my salesman. He admitted to not knowing a lot about the Spyder and he didn't...

:agree:When I am in different cities I go into a :spyder2: dealership and start asking questions about the :spyder2:with the salesman. 90% of the time I know a lot more about the machine than they do and it is fun to go back and forth with them. After awhile they start asking me questions.

You will find the shifting much smoother if you dont back off the gas; like power shifting. Try both methods, youll see for yourself.

I noticed right away with mine that it performed much better with speed shifting. It won't let you skip gears like a manual, just keep the revs up

Shifting on the 2011 RTS/SE5

When I first got my RTS about 6 weeks ago, it would belch and hiccup when shifting. Now with 1,300 miles I DO back off the throttle when shifting. I don't go to zero, just back off as if I was driving a 5 speed cycle. I shift just over 3,000 rpms and it is a smooth as silk with no belching or hiccuping. LOL. I get about 35 mpg and very rarely go over 4,700 rpm on the highways, since I never go over 65 mph. I don't like to push my luck. I love riding, but have no interest in speeding or sharp cornering. I love my Spyder.
