• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shifting a RT-S SE5

I don't plan on doing this, but just want to know. On my Burgman 650 scooter you can shift manually or automatic...you can hold the rpms on the throttle and hit the up button to shift up through the gears...can you do this on a RT-S....when I rode the demo, I let off the throttle then paddled up the gears...just wondering. I won't do it as I think it would be stressing the scoot...

Definitely do not let up off the throttle. Once you hit about 3500 to 4000 rpm, just hold the throttle where it is and paddle up. Smooth as silk. It's especially fun cranking it on getting on a freeway ramp. That power band hiding up there somewhere between 5-7000 rpm makes entering a freeway a fun experience, even on an RT-S. Be sure to hold on tight!!

Slybird, you have made this old man's day. I could not ask for a better answer. I am trying to be patient for another 3-4 weeks, but it is hard....:gaah:

If your Spyder is your second trike I'm assuming that gorgeous 'Wing is your primary weapon of choice... I'll be very interested to hear your comparisons between the two of them!

I have had the Wing since 11-01-01 and triked it 09-05 and have 40K on the Motor Trike kit. I have had no problems with the setup. I love the trike and plan to keep it at least a while. I rode a Spyder demo in '08 at the San Antonio Motorcycle show and once or twice since....last month I was visiting the South Texas Suzuki shop in Devine, TX. They had several RT-S....manual and SE5s. I really liked the SE5.

I have been saying I would see what the 2012 Wing will be...and if nice, buy and trike it. My Honda dealer said he felt a nice price increase was coming on the Wings.....being made in Japan now and the Yen strong against the dollar.

Anyway, I decided to buy a RT-S SE5 and see how it goes. I will report my thoughts on both the Wing and the Spyder...I know they are a lot different, but we will see.

One thing...this site is much friendlier than the GL1800 site. There, it seems, someone or more want to poke others for no reason..I don't need it and don't post there much...read some, but not all. I have asked, perhaps basic questions, but always got a straight answer without any BS. I am looking forwar to my Spyder...

Good to hear I made your day. :ohyea: Here's hoping your :spyder2: comes ahead of schedule so you can get going. When I was "trike shopping", I test drove a Goldwing Trike (think it was a Lehman conversion). Boy, what a difference. I firmly believe that once you get your :spyder2: and get used to the difference in the handling, I think you'll be rYding a lot more than Winging it!:spyder2: (...and please don't take this as a slam on Wings...I've owned '96, 2000 and 2004 Wings and loved every one!!!) Take care, my friend! Hope to meet you on the road someday!
