• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

shift problem

After the bike (2011 RTS SE5) is warm, it won't shift into neutral. I have to shift from first to reverse, and then into neutral. Anyone else familiar with this issue? The dealer hasn't found a solution.

I just posted almost the same thing that you did. I am not really worried about it and from doing some research in a 2012 shop Manuel there is not much that can be found to justify the condition. As long as there is a work around we can wait until they find the cause.

When shifting from 1st to neutral it must be a press and quick release. If you press and hold it will not shift.

:agree:, that seems to be the way it is.
Maybe when the oil is cold you have a slightly longer time to hold the button, but it seems to be an idiosyncrasy much like the turn signal switch.

"Hey Melvin, you work on the turn signals and the paddle shifter" ....

It will do this warm or cold. I think it has to with the press and hold being reserved for shifting from 1st to reverse. So if you're in 1st, press and hold the shifter paddle, since the reverse button is not held down it will do nothing.

Seems like..!!

it is similar to the manual shift models. Finding neutral is also a soft tap or you go right into 1st or 2nd. That press and quick release signals the actuator to bump rather than hold...have seen some se5 ryders mention missed shifts for that reason...:dontknow:
