• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Shift Down

Question, I have 152 miles on my bike and working on my break-in period. When I downshift from 4 gear to 2 or 1st gear, if I am no using the throttle (normal position) can I use my breaks and downshift down when I am in the 1500 RPM range for each gear?. I Always worry about Nanny. No, Nanny did not wake up when riding but I want to be sure I am doing the right thing. Conclusion, It is okay to sHift down on each gear with my breaks on but no throttle. Let me know. Thanks.

I hope you don't "break", but it is fine to brake while you down-shift without any throttle. This is assuming you are not going too fast for the gear you are shifting into. At least I can't think of any reason why not. I do it frequently.

The new 1330s have really improved the bike's ability to handle the downshifting chores on it's own...
With my 2010; I always was kicking it down through the gears...
With the 2014; there doesn't seem to be the need... it takes care of it all on it's own!
About the only time I get involved in it, is if I'm getting ready to make a pass out on the highway. :D

But yes; it's perfectly fine to do your own downshifting. :2thumbs:

:agree: x 2. I pretty much never downshift the 2014 RT. I always downshift the 2011 RT but akspyderlady does not. The manual down shifting on the 2011 has to do with the clunky automatic downshift. Not a consideration on the 2014 which is much smoother.

I worked my bike this past weekend total mileage 332. Half way done for my break-in period. Added a Bajaron swaybar to this bike, the difference between having a Bajaron and not having one was noticeable. I think the 2015 new Y design changed the way the bike rides, but with the new Bajaron it made an improvement. Directions to install the swaybar were really good. No extra bolts or pins were left after completion of the installation. It took my friend and me approximately 2.5 hours. Thank you Ron for a quality product.
