Picked up my :spyder2: on Saturday and brought her home on a trailer. Dealer did not replace throttle body or any thing. Says he cleared all codes and could not duplicate when out for a ride.:banghead:

When I got her home I started it up to back off trailer and GUESS WHAT!!

When I hit the throttle she went into LIMP MODE:banghead:

She's going to Cuba next week, A BIG THANK YOU TO LEN AT COWTOWN. Arkansas dealer will never touch her again. Here is yesterdays service ticket, and you can see all the codes she had and what they done.... "NOTHING"

amazing, 11 days in the shop and they come up with nothing. :banghead: Including BRP doing a diagnosis from afar...:gaah:

Off to cowtown

Getting the coffee in me, waiting for wife to get ready. Its 4 am here. Bike on trailer and about to leave for Cuba MO. to drop her off at cowtown. Hope to get this throttle body thing fixed for good. 400 miles is a long way to go but others has drove farther.
She will be missed. But she has been on the trailer seance I got her back from my local dealer but at least I could look at her as I walked by...
Wished cow town could buy out our dealer out here in Arkansas. we have 3 but same owner. and there worthless, sorry to say.

i am a master tech and work on cars all day long fly by wire stated back in 05 we never had that much trouble with TB on car if it's that bad they should go back to cable hope everything works out for you

4am and about to leave for cuba to pick up the bike. Len and his crew has got the new throttle body in and getting her nursed back to full health. Cant wait to get her back home. 7 hour drive up and 7 back. It will be worth it to have her back home.

In another post, I said I pulled up to my barn after a 220 mile ride. Shut BR1 off to open the door. Started him and BANG BANG BANG! I shut him down, pushed him into the barn and tried him again....and again, there was loud banging. BR1 was dead in the water. Off to the dealer, getting a flat bed, etc is a chore and somewhat costly. Part is on backorder so he sits in the shop.

Dealer said the Electronic Control Module went out. Had I been out in the west Texas boondocks, I would have been in DEEP trouble....no cell service in most of that area and HOT! I have 7,000 miles on BR1. It also stopped due to a steering sensor at 2,000 miles.

I have 62,000 on my GW Trike and it has never been in the shop for a repair in 12 years! I like many of the things about BR1, but am loosing my confidence in him for me to get too far from home. I would take my '02 "Punkin" to New York City without a second thought.

A friend is thinking "trikes" and asked me yesterday, "Do you recommend a Spyder or a Gold Wing trike?" I said, I would get a Wing. Cost?? Russelville, AR Honda has 2012 Motor Trike (basic Wing) for <$29,000. He asked if I would buy another RT? I said, "No".

Many have had great luck with their Spyders and I wish they were more dependable, but they are not. Many on this site have had problems. I realie Honda has been building Wings for many years and Spyders are new. Granted, but this does not count for much when stranded twelve miles south of nowhere. Just my personal opinion.
