There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Shark Evoline modular

I have a Shark Evoline helmet coming in the mail, any input or likes or dislikes with these modular helmets? I liked the way you can swing the mouth guard all the way back. I will post when I get some use out of it, wanted to know if anyone uses this helmet....Thanks

My biggest dislike is they are not Snell rated. Just a 'trust me its good enough' DOT stamp which requires no third party verification or testing.

Just because a helmet doesn't carry the Snell rating doesn't mean it wouldn't pass. Snell testing is extremely expensive and was really designed as a standard for race cars. Many manufacturers pass on Snell for motorcycle helmets as it's honestly an aging cert. IMHO for our use on a motorcycle ECE is the standard I would look for. Mainly because ECE does abrasion testing. Snell does not.
Also, personally I try to stay with well known helmet brands from companies that have a history of producing quality helmets (I've been into Shoei for a long time).
What was the recent thread about a less popular branded helmet recall? Not information I'd like to receive about a helmet I bought....

+1 on the new ECE rating.

My only add would be to try Revzilla (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle-parts?gclid=CIjn_6erptECFVuHswodjFYD8Q) for your next helmet purchase. Head shapes vary a lot (I cannot fit into an oval shape opening) and the info they give is accurate and helps you make a good purchase 1st time. I just bought my HJC
Rpha Pro Darter and am pleased with the fit (the HJC brand has come a long way from their initial offerings). I ride with a HJC RPHA Max when I'm on the Spyder.

Here's what I would do...

I go to the biggest bike shop that carries all the brands, or most, and test them out. I have been to the Bell plant and seen the testing they do even before any certification. If they put nothing but their name on it is would where it anywhere. I must believe all do similar testing (name brand) and if they are on the shelf have passed safety regulations. Shark is a good helmet and I would only stress a good fit...jmo

i ordered one because i love the way they work. as far as i know. up to 2x they are rated for the states. i got rid of it because it was too small for my head, and the 3x and over is only sold overseas, they didn't want to pay for it to be tested here in the states

Shark Evoline

My wife and I have owned Shark Evoline modular helmets now for almost a year. I have about 20k miles on mine. We're both happy with our helmets. We ordered two from Revizlla because we knew the size we wanted. (We wear small in HJC and medium in Shark.) When they arrived they didn't fit. Come to find out they were the first batch to arrive in this country and were made for round European heads. The helmets actually hurt. Revizlla was aware of the problem and gave us a full refund. Searched the web and found out that evoilne 3's were coming out in an oval shape for north American heads. Bought two evo 3's from Bogotto Outdoor & Motorwear in Germany for under $250 free shipping no tax. Installing the and removing the face shield can be a pain in the butt if you're like me and don't use it unless it's raining. I wear prescription sunglasses so I also use the face shield at night. I broke the small plastic tab that holds the sunshade lens when I was removing it to modify it. Shark has a repair station here in the US, and I sent it to them and they repaired and returned it within less than two weeks. No charge no shipping fee. Shark has a 5 year warrantee. We have Sena 20s installed and they work well, however getting the speakers centered directly over the ear can be a bit of a chore because the chin straps are mounted in the same area. By the way, you can buy different sized cheek padding to accommodate different sized faces. All in all we are very pleased with our Shark Evoline 3's. DrewNJ is correct regarding Snell. ECE testing is any bit as good as DOT and possibly better. DOT does random helmet tests after manufacturing but ECE tests helmets during manufacturing. Difference is helmet flaws can slip past DOT where as ECE catches flaws before helmets have finish production.

The Evoline 2 was my favourite ever helmet. They are approved for Australia and we have pretty tough regulations. Like Cuznjohn found though, the Evoline 3 had a shape change and didn't fit me. I tried to get the next size up, and found that Shark didn't have a bigger size available in Australia.......bummer.....I now use a Shoei J Cruise.
