• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

sharing GPS between RT and car

I didn't get the BRP GPS with my 2010 RT:spyder2:. Now the old I use for my car and RV has died. Not sad; it lived a long life - 10 years. Can someone guide me to a unit I can share between the RT and other vehicles. Needs to be easily removable from the RT and remount in cars and then back to RT. I used to use my handheld unit that I use for geocaching on the cycle when I was a 2 wheeler. It had a RAM mount. I can't find one that would fit the RT. Please keep the explanations simple. No gearhead/techno speak. I only speak English and get by with ten thumbs. My only mechanical skills are :gaah:cuss words.

Garmin Nuvi

I use a Garmin Nuvi between the Spyder and my truck. The Garmin suction-cup mount that comes with the Nuvi requires a smooth service in order to hold reliably. I've road tested the Nuvi on two surfaces -- the windshield and the glovebox. My chief concern was vibration. But the mount held securely in both places. Proof of this is that I still have the Nuvi :D! The mount is also adjustable to provide nearly unlimited viewing angles. Picture quality was acceptable unless the sun was directly on the screen, but I can say that about the instrument cluster, too. The battery will last a few hours, eliminating the need for a power source. When it runs down I just pop it in the trunk for a recharge. The Nuvi is NOT weatherproof, so you gotta keep an eye on the sky. Retail price is roughly $100.

Check out my gallery photos.
A custom made bracket (anyone can do it) held on to the center part of the RT handle bars with 3M automotive double stick tape. VERY VERY secure.
Used the Powerlet USB cable up through the center for power.
GPS only cost $161.

Personally, I tried using my Nuvi 665T on the Spyder in an AquBox. I hated, hated, hated it. There a long list of reasons -- primarily simple usability.

So, I bought a Zumo 660. It comes with both a waterproof mount and a car mount.

Admittedly, I still use my Nuvi in my car. But, I have loaned it out several times to folks that cannot justify owning a GPS. When it is on loan, the Zumo is very happy in my car. It even automatically offers to change to car when it is there and to motorcycle when it it there.

Garmin Zumo 660

is this the same model BRP sells with its navigation package? Will it function with the other Spyder features?

cheapest garmin is the nuvi 550 waterproof. just no bt or mp3 player

got the garmin direct wire kit with mount included

kewlmetal mounting bracket

just leave the garmin mounting bracket and pop out for use in car. use the included car mount for that.
