Shake

I'm noticing some shake in my 2010 RT at around 55 mph. Is it common for the handlebars to do that at higher speeds?

I have a 2010 Rt and have no vibration or. Shaking issues.I would check tire pressure all the way first.

How many miles do your front tires have on them? Perhaps one of them had a belt let go...

I had the same problem, broken belt in one of my tires. New tires fixed the problem.

It's moderately smooth up to about 50 mph. Does that still sound like a belt? If it is, where is the best place to get tires?

No.
Tire balance maybe? My 2010 is smooth as silk and always has been. Nothing but the usual belt vib at certain RPM's.. You should not have any shake in the handlebars.

T wouldn't hurt to check for "Cupping" on the front tires.:dontknow:

that's is where I get mine. My fronts are original and have over 23,000 miles on them. Nothing wrong with the factory front tires (just my experience tho).
The factory rear is where some folks have has mileage issues with them not lasting very long. a few have opted for car tires on the rear. The issue with that is finding a dealer that will mount a non OEM tire on th spyder.

Wheel Balance

I just had the same issue on my new 2013 RTS. Told service about it when in for my 600 mile service. The tech found 1 of the front wheels was 3/4 ounce out-of-balance. He rebalanced, and my shake/wobble is now gone.

Hard to say..!!

when you say shake this is like wobble side to side movement..?? If so then there is something going on up front. Start with air pressure, check wheel bearings and ball joints etc. Jack front wheel up and holding top and bottom push it back and forth should be solid. Then you can check wheel balance and alignment and finally the tires themselves...:thumbup:

Thanks for all the input. Tire pressure is correct (15 lbs). Going to have the dealer check balance. If they don't come up with anything, I guess it's new tires.

One of the front tires was way out of wack. Tech thinks it beat up the ball joint. The new ball joints seem more heavy duty so I had them put both on. One new front tire and both fronts balanced. Shake seems to be gone. Definitely smoother in general. I hope this is the last of the repairs for a bit. I WANT TO RIDE!

Change the front tire pressure to 20 psi it works better

FWIW I ran 18 psi in my 2012. 15 psi just seems a little low.

Yes and if you run 15-17 psi and you hit a decent size pothole the tire will blow. Had it happen to one of my fronts last week. Since the pressure was low the tire got pinched against the rim and put a 1-1/2 split in the sidewall. Tow time wasn't pretty.... I am now running Kumho's on the front. IMO much nicer tire than the OEM's:doorag:
