• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Service Covers

I am trying to remove the service covers & it says in the manual "remove plastic rivet from service cover". How do you do this; I am afraid of breaking the plastic. I'm a new owner that purchased a 2010 Spyder RTS that has not been on the road yet due to engine light on. I have been waiting almost 2 months to get into a dealer for the recall notices & was going to get them to look at the engine problem also. I was told by a friend to check the spark plugs; I'm trying to get at them but there seems to be a lot of removals before you can get at them compared to a goldwing. Any help would be appreciated.

Pry up the center of the plastic rivet with a screwdriver or similar tool, until it "clicks" into the detent. This unlocks it. The rivet can then be pulled or pried out. If the center portion comes out, just put it back in after the rivet has been removed. To reinastall, leave center portion in the outer position, push rivet in hole, then push down center to lock.

I know this is random and probably bizarre, but as long as this thread is here... I admit, I love those little plastic rivets. Unlike those annoying torx bolts, the rivets are just so, so... satisfying to pop out and back in. Right up there with Dzus in the "little fun things in life" department.

:D
