• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Service Bulletin Forum

I have done several advanced searches on SL but have had little success trying to ferret out a comprehensive source of service bulletins for the Spyders. Is it possible to have a central location for this information? If it exists already and I have missed it, please pardon my ignorance. I saw an earlier post in 2010 with a few SBs listed, but this was limited to the 2010 and prior models.

I am aware that I can take my Spyder to the dealer and have them perform a search based on the VIN. However, I like to be up to date with information that should be available to any consumer. If folks here have access to Service Bulletins and can post them I think that would be very helpful to all subscribers (IMO). There is so much information on this site and I am grateful to all whom have come before and provided their knowledge. This site is an invaluable resource for all owners. Thank you!

brilliant

Great Idea
One spot for Technical Service Bulletins and other updates, as well as Safety Recalls, would be great. Perhaps just the Bulletins rather than the full thread/s, with a link to the thread, may work best to keep it streamlined.

vin

I agree, VIN search only brings up Safety Recalls - and doesn't work in Australia even for that.
TSBs and other info - eg part numbers/images of document for the ST panel kit - have been of great help to me, and I thank everyone for their input.

PS maybe Warranty Recalls too on vin search ... but I doubt general TSBs are included - as no vin IDs shown...

Correct

Doesn't that bring up recalls only & not TSBs?

Correct, the BRP site only provides recall bulletins. The many service bulletins that are "published" are not available to the consumer. My suggestion is a specific forum to post these service bulletins as they become known/available to subscribers.

If the TSBs are not available to consumers; then they're just not available to consumers... :banghead:
You'll just have to keep in touch with your dealer.

Wrong answer Bob they SHOULD be available. Half the time the dealers are clueless unless we bring a print out of something from SL to them to find it. You can find them for other vehicles. It is an excellent idea to have a sticky for them and with Lamont's help could be a ready resource for all of us.

in the car industry they have secret recalls. what this is, is that you go in for service and they look at the bulletins and fix the problems, then they tell you what they did, and it makes them look like they are looking out for you. if it's not dangerous, they don't want to spend the money

Would be nice...

I know the green manuals you get online have all the bulletins attached up to the time of burning. Thing is there may be new one after the sale. Would be a project to put them all together by model and issued date but very helpful no doubt....

TST's (Technical Service Tips) and TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) are only available to dealers via a subscription to BOSSWeb.

But I agree, these should be made available to all!!!! Had it not been for Lamont pulling the TSB about my set screw in the engine, I would not have known what this screw was or what to do about it AND like said above, the dealers had no idea what the set screw was!!!!!!!
Even Shawn Smoke a respected tech did not know when I talked to him about it that day!

So, dealers are not checking these things and keeping up to date. BIG PROBLEM!
I am confused as to why this is? Is there too many of them to keep track of? They are just not doing diligence and reading these as they come out?

Thus it seems the expert should be the customer about their own Spyder as we cannot rely on dealers.
BRP should release these to everyone.

Chupaca, I just bought a 2014 RTS Green Manual and it did not have any service bulletin updates. They are scanning a hard copy of the manual so the only ones in there are the ones BRP put in when they printed the manual. So it's not time of burn to the CD, its when Green Manual bought the hard copy to scan. It also seems when BRP prints the manual, they do not do reprints later to update it. They rely on dealers going to BOSSweb and keeping their manual up to date.

You mis-read my statement...
I said that if they're not available; they not available... that's pretty simple.
But I NEVER said that they shouldn't be available. :D
BRP has recall information available; just add the TSBs to it.

FWIW, my Green Manual for the 2014 has no TSB in it. I waited over a year before buying the manual after the vehicle purchase.

This is a touchy area for the manufacturer.

Granted it would be a very valuable resource for those people that could use it in a good way. Sadly, many people would demand TSB accomplishment when not needed and expect it as warranty (free) even if not needed.

The best thing in my opinion is for BRP to send out an owners Service Letter each month via e mail. This would list various bulletins and explain what is going on rather than leave owners in a mystery.

This method could also save BRP huge amounts of money with the towing bills and would promote good Customer Service which they score whale turd low in.

Sadly, and I am sure Bob D will link it...Go on take the money and run.

I am for a TSB section on this site. Post, discuss, remedy...The majority, but not all of the dealers have no clue and are scary like a zombie to deal with.

It doesn't need to even be that complicated...
We already have the Shoptalk areas: Post them as a "Sticky" at the top of each of them.

Here is an example of what we should be getting

Yup, this is exactly what I was hoping we could add. A central location without having to do crazy searches. It seems that some owners are lucky enough to come across these bulletins. If we had an area to share them it would be helpful. I read too often that members have dealers with no clue. Finding another dealer is not always an easy alternative depending on your area.

There are so many great "timeless" posts (Oil, belt tension, etc.) that should be in a fixed area (mandatory reading for ALL ryders). Lamont and others have done an incredible job with this forum. It seems that a little re-organizing and tidying up might be in order now that the bikes have been out for a while. Just my opinion FWIW as a new member.

Time to go ryding...
