• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

But from looking at the Parts Diagram from BRP, it doesn't look like they sell just the glass, but the entire sub-assembly has to be purchased, at least from what I can tell here & the sub-assembly runs $177 for Left & $187 for right side. No clue why there different prices, but that's what the BRP parts fiche says. I tried one of those cut-to-fit mirror replacements, but it would just crack when trying to cut and the LEDs wouldn't show thru it anyways. I'm sure I could've just taken the plastic housing to our local glass shop & had them cut us a mirror piece to fit, but Mark was kind enough to offer us one, saving us that hassle :bowdown: Its some work to do, but with patience, its totally worth it :firstplace:

I was thinking the exact same thing ....so I looked on a Parts Fiche (?), and it looks like the arm and mirror housing are all one assembly and the cost I think was was north of $110.............................so don't break it :lecturef_smilie: :gaah: :yikes: :agree:......Mike :thumbup:...............PS ..this was for a RS / GS,....for an RT I'm afraid to look.

I agree, the LEDs do not obstruct your view in the mirrors. I rode home in the dark the night I installed them and made several lane changes and turns just to see them dance :yes::yes: I was afraid I would get pulled over for driving like a drunk. :roflblack::roflblack:
 
The installation process looks just like the one put out by Muth for theirs :shocked:...
It appears to be quite a daunting task! :yikes:
 
Got the mirror apart, and the mirror glass removed from the backing plate...did you attach the LED to the mirror or the backing plate?

I attached mine to the back of the mirror and now it's too thick to lay back in the backing plate...:yikes:

What now?.......

We set ours so the bulk of the LED body laid into the center whole that was already in the mirror housing, that way the LED body didn't really stick up any further than the thickness of itself. Used the 3M tape to hold the mirror in place and positioned the tape where it wouldn't allow the LED body to move once in position.

With what you have done, it would seem you have a few options.
Use a razor and a little heat & remove the LED from the back of the mirror & position it like we did or
You could follow Muths directions in their video & basically take a dremel or similar tool & cut out a relief in the plastic housing, where it would allow the mirror with the LED attached the way you have it now to lay flat.
Guess you could also take a thicker size of 3M tape to the outter perimeter of the mirror glass and seal it into the housing that way, and it should allow enough space that the LED body wouldn't seem raised or cause any issues :dontknow:

Well I guess it HAD to happen...

I got the mirror off the back plate without any issues and then I dropped the glass and it BROKE!

I'm going to have to figure out how to fix this mess....

I'd take the backing plate with a small piece of the mirror to a glass shop. they should be able to make a replacement for you. I have done this with car mirrors and had no problems. Just don't let them mount it so you can mount your signals in later.
 
I took the glass (mirror) to a local glass shop to see if they can cut a new one. The woman tells me this is not standard mirror stock....

She holds it up and has me look outside thru the mirror and says, "You can see through this mirror, this material lets some light pass through it....if you use standard mirror stock, you will be blinded by the headlights from behind you because standard mirror stock does not let light pass through it and reflects ALL the light"

I left the mirror with them and they will see if they have an automotive mirror larger than the RT and cut it to size....:gaah:

I didn't mount to back of mirror. I laid it on the backing plate and built up the area around the LED with 3M tape. This held the LED in place. Than I laid mirror over backing plate and made sure mirror laid completely flat. Remember you have to remove the the adhesive from back of mirror where the LED makes contact otherwise it will be too thick.

Sorry to hear about the mishap. When working with the glass we laid a thick blanket down in case we dropped it.

I also had a blanket laid on top of my workbench, but I dropped the glass, it bounced & hit the concrete floor of my garage....:banghead:

I guess I will have to work in a padded room to complete this once the glass gets replaced....:roflblack:
 
Update...

Got a call this morning and the local glass company said my replacement mirror glass was ready whenever I wanted to pick it up.

Will pick it up Monday @ lunch!

Then I will hopefully be able to complete this farkle!!

Final Update

The left side works great....on the first attempt on the right side the LED did not work properly. It only flashed on 2 of the 3 LED bars. Called the manufacturer. They wanted me to send them a video showing the malfunction. So off to the garage and shot a video. Sent it per request via e-mail. They sent a replacement at no charge, and I received it within 6 days from California.....

Went to install the "new" sequential LED turn signal and guess what? Yep, it's hosed up also. These were cool looking, and at $20, I figured they might not last a lifetime, but I hoped they would at least work right out of the package.

So, I have removed the sequential LED turn signals and will install a single LED strip down the inside lip of each mirror. Probably go to Autozone, PepBoys or Wal-Mart has the short strips I think I want....

Good luck...Hopefully if you tackle this farkle, you will have better luck than I did......:banghead::banghead:
 
Done! and they look GREAT!

Installed mine over the weekend and could not be happier with them. The glass removal turned out to be far easier than I thought. Use 3M mounting tape to hold the led module in position and reattach the glass. Looks completely OEM once installed. SO much better than the stick on strips of leds in the housing. Happily both of mine worked fine but I did test each one before installing the glass and again before reassembling the mirror.
 
Trouble with second set

Bought a second set of these to install on Louise new bike. When turning on the turn signals, they fast flash and do not work properly. Nanny does not like them. They work fine on hazard so the LED boards are fine, just the bike does not like something. Perhaps the extra current? Would a small resistor in the circuit help and still let them burn bright enough to work. Odd that they worked fine on my bike and do not on hers.
 
I tried it from toy 1 went well the 2 I broke the mirror and I am very handy I give up and installed a 4 inch led i had left over from my front eye brow I got from ebay for $3 very bright
