There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Sena speaker quality

Let me try this as a new post. The cynical member who was a smart *** when I was just looking for assistance in another thread, need not reply. I heard from you already, and would rather not hear from you again.

My question has to do with sound quality. In order for me to get voice directions from my Zumo, I had to first connect my Sena SMH10 Universal to the Zumo, then connect to my iPhone5. In doing so I can get directions & music that I loaded on the Zumo. I hear many talk about better sound through the Sena helmet speakers, but mine sounds terrible. Very tinny. I'm disappointed because that was the primary reason I bought the Sena. What do you guys think of the quality of the sound on your Sena's? Is that typical?

Thanks....

I'd rather be smart than a smart *** so let's see if I can play the role. I, too, did not like the sound so the four-man riding group that I ride with all swapped out the helmet speakers with J&M speakers. The Sena unit drove the speakers just fine.

The only sound issue I have with mine is the volume dial seems very touchy. It goes from a whisper to a yell in a click or two but the sound quality seems fine.

I do have issues pairing with other Bluetooth helmet systems although I am not 100% sure if it is on my end or the other.

I would suggest talking with the Sena tech person about the pairing sequence for pairing devices and for linking to other headsets. This matters greatly. Even if you do it correctly, there are glitches that require turning the headset off and back on to regain pairing. Sometimes, pushing the phone button on the headset for a couple of seconds works. Me, I'm waiting for the new generation BT unit (SMH 20) to be available. ...Don

Zumo sound for music is not the greatest . Why not load music on I phone? It is a lot better, Zumo will still interrupt to give directions. Try it .

I replaced the Sena speakers with a set of Tork X-Pro helmet speakers and the improvement in sound quality was considerable. Highly recommended. My Sena SMH-10R helmet set has no trouble driving them.

I've been running the Sena SMH-10 for a couple of years now and am very impressed with the units and the sound quality. I've tried several other brands, but found the Sena to be the best quality of the ones I've tried. However, the sound quality is directly related to the source of the input. When using the BT from my Droid phone for music the sound quality is excellent. My wife uses her iPhone directly via BT and also finds the sound quality to be excellent.

Position of the speakers is critical. I moved mine up 1/4" in Key West after noticing the sound was much louder just as I started to take the helmet off. After that I never had to have the volume turned all the way up. Granted they are not Polk Audio Model 10's but with proper placement relative to your ear canal they work just fine for what they are.

My Senas got better with a set of noise reducing earplugs :dontknow:

Zackly! Also get the speakers closer to your ears with velcro inserts. Even a little distance from the ears makes a difference. Should be within 1/8-1/4 " from the ears. Don't forget the sponge ear plugs to block out the road noise and crank up the Zumo and Senna volume.

I have a Zumo 665 with Senna 10 an sound is great. If your helmet schell is to large this will put distance between speakers and ears. Not good.

i swapped out the sena baseplate with the one that lets you plug in any headphone plug.

I then ordered the Tork X-pro speakers.

i know, most people think its a rip off, or you could essentially make your own. Since for me, money isnt really an option, i decided to give these a try. the sound quality is 100 times better than the sena stock headphones. much better bass response, overall sound quality is just much better.

thats my 2 cents. or as it is here, my $100 upgrade opinion.

BINGO! That is why they give you those 2 velcro pads.
1) It moves them closer to your ears.
2) Gives some breathing room behind the headset speakers so they produce a little more bass.

yes thats true. but the bottom line, is those are super low quality speakers, regardless of how perfectly you get them aligned to your ears. i had them set up perfectly, but had to turn the bass output on the bike to -7 the lowest setting to make them not pop with any amount of bass. and then they just sounded tinny and crappy.

May I ask how you wired them? I don't like the Sena SMH10 speakers at all.
