Sell/ Trade RT-s

Hi All, so I am thinking about trading my 2015 RT-s for a 2017 F3-t. The reason being is that the RT causes me to have knee pain issues and it just isn't comfortable for me. My RT is decked out with a Ultimate seat, passenger backrest and driver backrest. Vented windshield, LED lights up front, highway bars. Front grilles and other grille covers. The bike is mint with 2600 miles. The dealer gave me a trade in price but I am thinking that I should be able to get close to 20k for this bike. Am I crazy for thinking this ? I know that trading in can cost you $$ but I think I can do better ... Any feedback would be great !!

The farkles won't get you much on a trade or selling outright. My 15 RTL was full of high end goodies and I waited 9 months to get 19k for it. If You sell the farkles first you will probably net closer to your goal.

I can get 16.5 with all of the extras to trade it in. Is that reasonable or should I be able to strip it and get that much for trade in ?

I am not one to believe in trading in very often, but if you are able to get enough, it will save you some in taxes. With the market being like it is right now, I would say a good price sell would be about $18k.

Nothing is more valuable than a vehicle being sold; or less valuable than a vehicle being bought or traded-in. nojoke
Your Farkles will not have the pricing effect that you hoped for. If you can hold out: try selling it privately first.
Good Luck!

You will get zero for any add ons, they will just help the dealer sell it faster. They are likely giving you wholesale and will try to sell for close to retail. They win , you loose. The only advantage to trading is you save on taxes and you can get rid of the bike quickly. So you need to decide what those two things are worth to YOU. You should be able to by a 2017 left over F3 T for a great price in another few months. I picked up the 2016 F3 T last September for a great price , new still in crate.

Here is the NADA assuming its a SE6? His offer of 16,500 is higher than the low retail of 14,700?

16500 saves you About 1,000 in sales tax depending on your state- So its really 17,500. Something to think about?

Depreciation is terrible today? BRP gives people 3,500 OFF 2016 leftovers BUT in reality they have depreciated Quite a Bit MORE than that so they are NOT giving you a Big Deal ? IMO

Price

I bought a 2015 RT S privately this Spring for 20K. No farkels, but 8500 miles. I thought I got a good deal.

see if he will give you the same price without the add ons. you could prob sell all them for about 1k. add that to the 16.5 plus the 1k for tax savings and your at 18.5. pretty close to where you wanted to be minus all the headaches of a private sale. remember the dealer can finance the bike to someone but not many people have 20k in cash to drop on a used bike. buy the bike you want and enjoy the rest of the riding season.

I am in the same boat which is probably why I wont go through with the trade. I am only being offered 12k to 13k at the Dealerships for my 2015 F3S with 12k miles on it. But with Dealers deeply discounting the 2016 and the 3500.00 extra discount from BRP it puts Used Spyders in a deep hole to climb out of.

Last month I purchased my 2015 RT-S with 2600 miles, Ultimate seat, Polycarbonate wind screen and Garmin GPS for $17500.........and the seller threw in a great helmet to boot.

Louis powersports in Greenville TX has 2017 F3 Limiteds for 24,700 no freight or prep fees. On eBay now.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. The price is going to vary, depending on the local market, and dealer.

Bad news: Farkles are worth nothing on a trade in. They make the bike yours, but buyers of used, do not go Ga ga over them. You might remove some of the most expensive and try to sell them--but remember, 10 cents on the dollar is typical for "used" items. Lots of for sale ads with hundreds of views will demonstrate this fact.

RE Blue Books: note a gap of $2K to $4K between wholesale, and re-sale price. There is a lot to play with there.

Here are a few additional tips:

:ani29:: Trade in is only a part of the price.
:ani29:: MSRP is a starting point.
:ani29:: Check with banks about financing if you are going to do that. Sometimes you can get a better rate.
:ani29:: Rates: Dealers Reserve: If you let some dealers find the rate--they sometimes give you a rate that is 2 to 3 points above the actual lenders rate. You sign on the dotted line, and they pocket the difference.
:ani29:: Accessories: There is a large markup there. See if you can negotiate "free" installation or a discount off of not installed items (clothing, etc.)
:ani29:: Extended warranties: You have two years before making a decision on BEST. I would wait. Dealer gets a big chunk there.
:ani29:: Delivery charges and set up: I don't pay them. Tough noogies to the dealer.
:ani29:: Extra insurance: Never.

BRP is offering 2k off 2017 and 0% financing for those that qualify right now. In case you did not know.

I might be interested in your driver's backrest for my 15 RT-SS if it's a reasonable price.

I'm interested in vented windshield

If you decide to sell add ons separately I'd be interested in your vented windshield if it's the size I'm looking for. Good luck either way.

I contacted the seller about the bike last night. He traded it in this past Monday. Not sure if he removed the extra items or not, but it might be worth sending him a PM.

Has anyone heard from the O.P. about how this is all proceeding? :dontknow:

I traded in the RT-s with all of the extras except the tailgunner exhaust. Only to find out that the tailgunner will not fit my new F3 and the gentlemen at Tailgunner doesn't have a timeline as to when a connector pipe will be available. I am thinking about selling the tailgunner and the connector pipes that fit on a RT for either the 990 or the 1330 motor and doing something else for an exhaust on the F3. Its a shame too as the tailgunner exhaust sounds awesome .
