• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Sell or Trade In

Only you can really answer the question. I am very happy with my 2012 RT A&C but I am trading up for the bigger engine and getting a trailer. I ride 2 up a lot and having a bigger power plant is going to help. That is the only reason I am upgrading. Have had ZERO issues with mine and hope I don't have any with the 2014 RT.

See which of your children likes you best! :hun: Offer it to them and see who will pay the most.:clap:

But, I am five years younger than you, so you have to decide how badly you want it now. I plan to be riding in my nineties and you should too.

Excellent response. I always hate to hear people limit themselves. I work in physical therapy in a hospital setting and it always saddens me when I hear someone limiting themselves based on their age. Thank you.

To the OP, you've been given good advice by many. I'm sure you'll make the choice that's right for you.

Ride

With just 3,000 miles on it my choice would be to keep it. My 2012 RT just turned 17,000 and I have decided to keep it another year and probably go for a new one in 2015. By then I should have 30,000 or so on it and I feel comfortable that it will get there without major problems. I'd like to see the 2014's get several thousand miles on them and see how the public and dealers react to any issues that may arise.

But, I am five years younger than you, so you have to decide how badly you want it now. I plan to be riding in my nineties and you should too.

Thanks for your input. In your 90's. Remind me to stay out of GA.

Ride

I don't know the way things work where you are. Up here in Ontario Canada, If you trade your vehicle on a vehicle (say $30.000) and get $22,000 for your trade. You would only pay tax on the $8,000 difference. If you sell private and buy the vehicle at full price, then you pay tax on the $30,000. Our tax rate (HST) is 13%. You would have to sell that vehicle for $2,760 more than the dealer gives you just to break even. (doesn't factor in advertising, hassle of tryouts etc.... Something to think about!!!

Thanks very good point. 13%? Ours are 8.25% Side note: my grandparents came from Quebec. I was born 60 miles from Montreal.

Sell or Trade

I have been given many good suggestions on weather to sell or trade. I want to thank all of you for your kind remarks and suggestions. I think what I shall do is keep the Rt S Limited and wait until the 2015's come out and if I am still feel as healthy as I do now I'll just get the 2014 at a good price and probably stay closer to home. That is unless I can find an 82 yrs old Biker Mama then we might just keep on touring.:yes: Only kidding, and anyway she would probably find some 80 yr. old guy at Spyderfest and leave me for him.:roflblack::roflblack: All kidding aside thanks and may God Bless.

Sell or Trade? Why?

My friend,

If you read your own post you already answered your own question.
She's beautiful, she doesn't give you any trouble and she's not even broken in yet and I'm fixing her up the way I like her.
You need to get on that bike and ride and thank God you can still do it. What the hell do you need a new one for? She is new! I'm not quite as old as you but I know one thing, we do have something in common, we're both lonely. So get on that beautiful bike that doesn't give you any trouble and get out and meet some people. You just might find that companionship your looking for and enjoy the rest of your life. We only live once.

Your friend,
Steve

It's like they say..!!

Why fix it if it ain't broke...the new one has a lot of changes but none that will make a difference to you. They are all inside up under and out of sight. Side by side yours may look better with the work you have done to it. If you should decide down the road to trade up, at your mileage accumulation rate it will still be new..!! :roflblack:

Trade it in, get the '14

I'm 79 and if I could afford it, and even if I can't I might anyway, trade mine in on a '14 simply because I want one. Not because I need it, not because my '11 has any problems, but because the new motor and gadgets strikes my fancy big time. If you're of this mindset also, go for if you want it. We ain't getting any younger so lets enjoy life to the fullest while we can. Let us know your decision. :)

I'd keep the paid off low miles 2012, ride it for a couple more years and see what BRP comes up w/ in the future.
