• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Securing jacket and helmet when stopped

Your are correct on all counts wyliec.......you must be a either a physical therapist, M.D., N.P., Nurse or had the procedure done. I did mention to the physician that I had a Spyder and that getting on the spypder was mounting a horse. He said he saw no issues but that the only thing I might have to do once I started riding was get some very stiff upholstery foam to sit on to elevate me a couple of inches so I did not break the 90 degrees.

Hip precautions after a total hip replacement are typically 6-8 weeks. The precautions are no pivoting on the operated leg; no crossing the operated leg past midline, which could happen when sleeping; and the one that may cause you problems, if you try to ride to early, is not flexing the hip past 90 degrees. All of which I'm sure your dr. has already covered.

Good luck on your follow-up physical therapy and a short recovery.

When my wife and I ride, we wear both a riding jacket and pants. If we want to stop for a prolonged period of time for a rest stop/meal break, it is nice to take the jacket off. Only one helmet will fit in the saddle bag (right side) and I end up carrying my helmet and jacket into the establishment that we are stopped at.

I am considering getting a cable bike lock and I can secure the helmet(s) and jacket(s) to the bike. But before I do, I as the question of "If the frunk is almost full with items where do you store your helmet and jacket?"

We have the RT limited it has helmet locks under the seat! Coats most of the time we drag with us to eat!

$10 bike lock from walmrt thru the helmets a passenger grip. Coms in our pocket or back end locked.

Thanks to everyone........

Everyone has given me good ideas on the helmet/jacket issue.

Now I will have to make a trip to Wallie World or Lowes to pick up a bike lock.

Just ordered 2 sets of Handcuffs thru Amazon for a total of $20. Been driven myself nuts trying to figure out what to do. The handcuffs might make people think twice before messing with it.

My wife puts her full face helmet (med) in the right saddlebag and her jacket/purse in the back trunk. I put my full face helmet (2xl) in the frunk with my jacket/vest. While it's a tight fit, I have put a 2xl helmet in the right saddlebag and up to 2xl half helmet in the left.

my solution

I was reading this thread and had the idea of putting a hook at the edge of the Frunk attached to the small piece that goes around the fuse box. I pulled it out and on the side away from the fuse box there is plenty of room. I drilled a hole and tried using a pop rivet to hold the hook but the pop rivet just pulled out of the plastic. So I drilled a larger hole and put a machine screw with 2 nut one on each side of the plastic. I hook the "D" ring over the screw and close the Frunk. Holds quite well.

Storage

what all do you carry?

I store my helmet, jacket, gloves and flashlight in front. My wife uses the RH saddle bag for her helmet and the rear for her purse. Yes she carries a big purse believe me.Everyone raves about all the storage all I have to say bravo sierra.

If you have an expensive helmet, don't even dream of securing your helmet to the exterior of the bike. The thieves cut off the straps or use bolt cutters for cables. I take my helmet with me when I go inside - no exception. I know where it is and no one can steal or damage it! Good helmets can easily cost near $1000 now and that is just to much for me to lose.:(

Hip replacement

I had my hip replace last July and bought my RT in Feb but if I found the one I wanted could have ridden much earlier but only because I did the physical therapy as you have probably been told that is the important thing to recovery. The next most important is to let people help when you need it and not be bull headed like me and try to do to much yourself to early. Good luck I know you feel better almost at once.
