• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I would get the gas cap door. I hate having to raise that seat every time. I got the Ultimate Seat w/ the gas cap door in uh......Chrome.:D

RE: Seats. Most people do not like the OEM seats for sure. Too soft for a long, all day ride. I cannot speak to the Ultimate Seat.

I have replaced all the seats on my four :spyder2:'s owned. Two were replaced with Corbins and back rests, and two have been replaced by the BRP comfort seats.

All are improvements over the OEM seats. Seats, unfortunately, are a very personal thing. You either like em or hate em, and there is usually not much middle ground.

Cost: The comfort seat is in the $595 price range, and most of the other aftermarket seats range from about $750 to over $1000 if you add backrests, or heat.

My advice, is to go to a gathering of :ani29:,s and test sit and look to see what you might consider to be right for you. If you guess wrong, its an expensive issue.

Good luck with your hunt.

No matter what seat people buy Many seem to end up adding the Sheepskin Cover or the Beadriders to stay cool in the summer Soo I just use the Sheepskin and beadriders and a walmart cushion I fashioned instead of spending $$$ on a seat because you really shouldn,t buy a seat unless you try it first!:hun:

SEAT UPGRADE

I bought the Ultimate seat with rider and passenger backrests. I love it. I got the seat without the gas door, due to it being on sale with 20% off. Well worth the money IMO.

:agree: with "Laska"
There's not a whole lot more personal, than a... bottom!
Find a gathering of Spyders, talk to the owners, and see if you can try some of the different options out.
It's kind of an expensive mistake if you're not happy!

bottoms up to you!

:agree: i agree with bob, but i couldn't wait and bought the ultimate as my wife was complaining that she always felt like she was sliding down hill into me. you all know when the wife isn't happy, we can't be happy either. see how long it takes the wife to complain!!:yikes:, then decide, do you gamble or do you wait?

I got the Ultimate seat with the black gas door. I ride solo and when I pack stuff in the back seat I don't want to have to raise it up whenever I refuel.

I got my Ultimate Tallboy, backrest, and gas door last summer for my RT and went on a 6300 test ride to Yellowstone. Three of the first four days were all 600 plus rides in 100 + temps with no monkey butt. Could not be happier.....

Go for the side gas door, not having to remove my bag on the back seat to lift my seat every time I filled up made up for every penny it cost me.

I have a number of upgrades on my :spyder:and this is without a doubt the best bang for my buck.

I am at the same crossroads. Like things about both Corbin and Ultimate. Be nice if they were both coming to Spyderfest (have not checked to see if either are). Leaning to Corbin. Not so much Corbin is edging out - rather - Ultimate losing the race with not being waterproof - that somewhat bothers me. I am not one to be good about covering and if a quick rain comes through while parked somewhere - a wet butt is guaranteed :(

I got a Corbin.
As far as Corbins are concerned, some advice....
First, while you can go with generic cuts or lamonster cuts or whatever, to get the best results, go to the factory for drive-in service. When you are there, they will put a generic "blank" on your bike, have you sit on it, and cut it to fit your body. A seat shaped to -you-- will be the most comfortable.
In addition, give the seat time to break in. It takes time for it to adjust to you and you to adjust to it. I'm talking around 2000 miles here. The first 500 miles in, and it could tell it was a definite improvement over the stock, but still got hard after a days riding. 2000 miles later I love just sitting on my seat.
Another note, I was apprehensive at first about getting my Corbin because the ones I sat on were very slippery. But at the factory, I mentioned this concern and they found a very grainy piece of leather that prevents the slipping. I am quite satisfied.
A gas door is a must.

We went with the "Ultimate Seats" with driver back rest and the black gas door which is a must have item IMO. Found the Corbin seats to be too hard from past experience. Another nice thing about Ultimate is they have a 14 day trial period with a money back guarantee which gives enough time for an evaluation and Dez (the owner) and his crew provide great customer service. As for being water proof, it comes with the covers to keep it dry and any seat that is stitched together isn't completely water proof.

RT Seats

I have a 2012 RT Limited and just installed the Utopia backrest. It is very well made, fairly easy to install, and makes a HUGE difference in my comfort... Highly recommend the backrest.

I think I will start with some floor boards first and see how much that changes the position. So far looks like I am leaning toward Ultimate with the gas cap and drivers back rest.
