I love that yellow bead thats really sharp good job.wildwillie  :spyder:
It looks really nice Hevnbound. I am curious, though, what it was you did not like about the stock seat. I have only about 1 1/2 hours seat time on pre-production units, and they felt pretty comfortable to me, but you never really know until you have done a day-long ride how it will fare. :spyder:
Cheers,

The stock seat is shaped like a telephone poll with padding - more of a saddle shape. For me, it was very uncomfortable after a long days ride. Also, the stock seat is covered with some kind of fabric that stretches - especially when it gets warm. It also seems to get tacky - sticks to my rear!! Makes it hard when I'm negotiating tight corners, switchbacks, etc. and I have to move quickly from side to side.

Most vendors that build and modify motorcycle seats speak about "pressure points" and how you need to distribute the weight evenly on the pressure points. You will notice from the picture, that the drivers seat was flattened out somewhat for that purpose.

Sargent Cycle Products in Jacksonville, FL did the work for me. They have modified a couple of seats for me in the past - outside of the Spyder, the most recent one was for a Ducati ST3. They do excellent work at reasonable prices and I have always been happy with their work. The seat is covered in a product (forgot the name) that breathes and is easy to slide on (from side to side). Trim is smooth leather and of course the yellow piping. Water doesn't seem to have any adverse affect on it.

The entire job cost me around $300.00. However, if all you want is for them to modify the seat for styling purposes, you can get away with a lot less than that. They replaced the foam in the drivers seating area with their supercel foam (I think that is what they call it). It is much firmer than the stock seat.

I wish I could tell you how well it works but I just recently got it put on and haven't had the time or good weather to be able to test it out. Looks like Wednesday down our way is shaping up to be a beautiful day. A buddy and I are going to head out for an all-day trip. I'll let you know how it works.

Thanks for the report, Hevnbound. I am familiar with Sargent saddles - a friend of mine with a VFR 800 had one a few years back and really liked it. I will be interested to hear how it works out for you.
Cheers,
Bruce

Okay nice seat but tell me about your pipe. ;D

Oh, ............. you noticed that?? ;D That's Ken's (Evoluzione) Remus Hexacone Carbon Fiber pipe with the connector pipe powder coated black. Also installed his 02 sensor modifier. Runs and sounds great ... louder than stock but sounds wicked. I'll really be able to try it out Wednesday as I plan on a long run. That's the good news. The not-so-good news is that it is pricey!!!!! :-[

Looks great. So far this is the best sounding pipe I've heard on a Spyder. This is on Magic Mans Spyder. He's going to be selling the 90's so you can put any pipe you want on it. :doorag:

Really nice seat!! On Monday I am riding up to Shasta Lake (from SoCal) for a custom Russell Day-Long saddle that will be made and installed on Wednesday. It won't look as nice as yours -- but my butt will like it just fine!

Thanks for the compliment. Russell is the Cadillac of motorcycle seats and I'm sure you will love it.

Have used Russell Day Long saddles on several bikes and they have been universally great. How about posting some pics and cost info when you can?

Could you tell us if there is a noticeable difference with the O2 sensor install and if
so, which? Is it really a lot better with or without other pipes?

No way to know if there is a difference with the 02 install since I didn't run my new pipe without it?
There seems to be an increase in power with the new pipe (Ken's Evoluzione Remus "Hexacone" exhaust) and the 02 sensor bypass. Also, the engine seems to run rougher and it appears the gas milieage has suffered a little. Ken said that I should have disconnected the battery to allow the ECU to reset itself when I installed everything. I haven't done that yet so maybe when I do, it will smooth out.

I say all of that to say this .............. It's all well worth it! The sound is awesome. I have had several people to comment on it. It looks good and it is a very quality pipe. The performance has definetely improved over the stock pipe.

Don't know if this helps but just thought I would add my comments about Ken's pipe. I will stack it up against any aftermarket exhaust - well worth the $$$$.
