seat,comfort or standard??

Im in the process of buying a RT limited 2014, and have a choice of comfort or standard seat. what are the differences, your opinion please, I usually ride 2 up, my wife and i are both 5'11" .. thanks in adv..

I went with the Ultimate seat with driver backrest and have over 2500 miles on it over the past 2 weeks and love it. I previously had a corbin seat on a previous spyder but find this seat to be more comfortable for me.

You really need to sit on the both of them. Or at least the standard seat. The biggest difference in the comfort seat is that you will be positioned 2" further back. This results in a more relaxed knee position but also further away from the handlebar. Many find they need the tri-axis adjustable handlebars once they add the comfort seat. Its all about rider position and your body dimensions. If you are really that unsure, I would suggest taking the bike home with the standard seat and try it out. Buy the comfort seat later if you find you need the room. You can likely get it cheaper than through your dealer anyway.

My experience on my 2014 is the standard seat was very comfortable. That saying, not sure how comfortable it would be on a long journey. My 2012 has an Ultimate seat in which I love. The standard seat is different on the 2012 vs the 2014. If I was spending the extra money i'd opt for the Ultimate.

Hello.
First i must ask you how tall you are. i just switched to the tall boy seat from ultimate seats with was a wonderful upgrade for me. I am 6'4 and after one summer of riding i developed hip and back pain from the stock seat. The Ultimate seat tall boy moves me back 1 1/2 inches. The comfort seat moves you back 2 inches. If you use a driver backrest the is quite a bit less room for the passenger but if u dont there is not a real big noticeable difference for the passenger( depending on size of passenger of Course). I highly recommend it if you taller in stature. IMHO.

I am 6'4" and the stock seat gave me cramps in my hips. I got the BRP comfort seat that moves you back 2" (it's actually about 2.5"). Love it and would never go back.

Only word of warning is this reduces the passenger seat room especially if you add a backrest. So make sure the wifey fits!

I recommend going with the OEM for 500 miles or so. If it turns out to be mushy, like previous editions, the Comfort seat is another option at $500 or so. I have done this on two :spyder2:'s and the comfort seat was an improvement.

Corbins were added to the other two. The Corbin is a hard seat, and you either like it or don't.

Keep in mind that if you go with the comfort seat, moving you back 2" that will take 2" of seating space away from your lovely wife.

I didn't realize this.

I have an STS and didn't notice a great difference w the Comfort Seat.

It was a touch more comfortable overall, but glad I got a deal on it because it wasn't a drastic difference. :dontknow:

I'm 6'4" and went with the Ultimate Tallboy seat and am putting a Utopia backrest on it

if you're tall, the comfort seat (or 3rd party tallboy type seat) is the way to go

You've been given a lot of great advice here. I am 5'10" and I like the Comfort Seat and backrest on my 2014. It is firmer than the stock seat and the extra 2" is great for my long legs. Sit on both if at all possible and especially have your wife sit on the Comfort Seat. It may not be comfortable for the passenger. I also have the TriAxis handlebars and am very glad that I do. I think I would have had problems with the stock bars with the Comfort Seat.

Two reasons, in Michigan we need the heated seat for the early season, second the reason for buying the Spyder is so my wife
is comfortable and does not need to get off every time I stop for fuel. She has had 4 knee replacements and it is difficult to mount/dismount without
twisting her knees. The Corbin saddle allows for fueling up without having to lift up the seat.

I got the standard seat because the comfort seat took 2 inches of space away from my wife in the passenger seat which made it uncomfortable for her.
