• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi all and thank-you in advance for your posts.

I was headed out for a ride yesterday morn, tried to start the Spyder and won,t turn over ! Turn the key and the gauges light up and move, hit the mode switch, foot on the brake, push the start button-nothing, check the kill switch, push the start button-nothing.
Check and swap out relays and all AMP fuses under the front hood, try again-nothing. Check and tighten battery connections and fuses under the seat-nothing. Change keys as I've herd peoples keys can go bad, nothing.

I know the battery is good and fully charged as I keep it on a battery tender and I also tried to boost it with my truck.

I gave the starter a wee whack and pushed the Spyder around a bit ,rocked it, swore at it , talked to it nicely, checked and jiggled any wire i could find and nodda .

I guess its going to the dealers unless anyone has a thought .

JUST WANT IT BACK BEFORE CHICAGO !!!

Before you give up completely, try your other key. A bad key can do this. If it is the security module itself that is bad, however, the other key won't help.

First thing that comes to mind...were you in gear when you turned it off? If you are still in gear, maybe the brake relay to remove it from gear to neutral is not working...if there is one. If you are in gear, maybe the linkage underneath can be used to put it in neutral. I am no mechanic, just my thoughts.

Thanks Scotty tried that . Had my key go through the wash about 5 weeks ago and thought that was the problem .

Thanks Dudley. Mine is a SE5 and I quite often shut it off in gear ( reverse or 1st ) and it puts its self into neutral and starts . But any how I'm desperate now and will try that.

P.S. Please say hi to Jenifer for me and i hope the two of you are enjoying retirement . We met up here in Ontario with your selfs and the Directer ( Bruce who has since given up on the Spyder ) after your stay in Niagara Falls.

I had a similar problem shortly after I got my SE5. The shop tested it and found a high amp draw through the starter so they replaced the starter. Still no go. So they checked further and found that the bearings in the starter drive gear train were seized. They replaced them on warrantee, but it took forever. Hope your problem is something simpler.

Were you able to get it started today, or are you having to take it to the dealer? If it is headed to the dealer, please let us know the outcome as well.

Going to the dealer. They can't look at it til 1st thing Thurs. morn. ! Monday was a long weekend for us, so I only phoned to-day and Thurs. morning is the first opening.

When you hit the button did the solenoid even try to engage the started? Her SE5 had something like this happen one time at a gas station... it wouldn't even activate the solenoid... after making sure it was in neutral and pressing the brake it started. Had us worried for several minutes though. /Ken krb1945
