• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SE5 transmission problems

Well i have a SE5 on order and i hope to test ride the semi auto this week.the first batch have just arrived here.
Well i have been reading on the forums about some of the problems that other owners have been having. should i be concerned? or is this only a small minority that are having problems?
I also would like to here the positives about the semi-auto gearbox

I have an SE5 and think it is a great option. On the positive side it is quick and SMOOTH, especially on gearing up. I shift in the 6000 - 7000 range most of the time, but even at around 4,000 it is great.
Some things to watch for: The tranny gears down when the revs are about 2400. If you are shifting down at around the same time, you end up shifting twice. You'll get used to it and I am getting accustomed to shifting down manually "most" of the time, before the Auto shift down occurs. Another thing is that the SE5 "Clutches" on it's own at idle. This means that you cannot leave it in gear and expect it not to roll. You HAVE to use the parking brake to stop it from rolling when parked. If the bike is idling a little high, the clutch is not fully engaged, so you have to make sure you have your foot on the brake. This is easy to know because of the engine speed.
If I had the chance to order all over again - I would STILL get the SE5. The pluses definitely outweight the negatives.

I have 3500 miles on my SE5 and love it!!! I find that the smoothest shift points is about 4500+ RPMS and don't even try it at 3500 as it will get hung between gears and spit and sputter till you give it enough throttle. It will take a little getting used to and like the previous post said it auto downshifts at 2400 RPMS except when going into first and that is done at about 1400 RPMS. All in all its a great machine and i would definately go with the SE5
 
SE5 transmission

We have the SE5 and love it, find myself downshifting with the paddle shifter on curvey roads but when slowing down , once I get to 4th gear, I let the transmission do its thing, shifts smother from 3 to 1 softer and with no klunk better than you can manually, also shifts smoother if you do no let off of gas on upshift. My wife lets it do all of the downshifting. Love it.
 
All sounds pretty good Gary,
The only issue is the Reverse to 1st shift whichhas only occurred in a couple of instances.
Hopefully see you there this week when I do the test ride too
