There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. SE5 Drivetrain Issues - Expert Opinions needed!

While out riding yesterday, my SE5 started to loose drive momentum while in gear. This happened quickly. It seemed like the clutch was slipping badly. I was very close to home so I made it back carefully. Engine revs fine, transmission seems to shift well, but no forward or backward motion while in gear. I checked the following and all appeared fine:

Drive Belt
Rear sprocket
Torque on front drive sprocket appears ok? (put the SE5 in gear to check torque and bolt seemed tight but the sprocket continues to turn even when in gear?)

Any ideas on repair? Is this the dreaded front sprocket issue? Thanks in advance.

If the sprocket is turning while "in gear" --- my guess is you're really not in gear. If you actually wore the splines on the sprocket and/or shaft it would be a more gradual problem and you would have heard quite a bit of noise.

Might just be a problem with your gear position sensor and thus your not really getting into gear.

How many miles on bike ??

Also check oil --- did you use wrong oil by chance? This can cause slippage.

I would not ride it more until you figure out what's wrong

The sprocket will turn on the SE5 even if turned off while in gear or running up to the point the clutch engages. It could be the springs going out on the clutch but I would also check the trans filter. :dontknow:

Mine started to slip a little on the way back from Cuba under heavey throttle. I had almost 8000 miles on the trans filter and it had started to collapse. Installed a new filter from Bajron and all is good now. :ohyea:

A special Huligan :spyder2: angel delivered a front sprocket and I am back on the road again. Thanks!

Glad to hear it. Had to do this myself a few week ago---- but I'm very concerned about the shaft splines as many were quite sharpened.

Put 2,000+ miles on the new sprocket (we marked it along with the bolt) and it has not moved .... yet.

Hoping to have it rebuilt this winter to replace the worn shaft--- while still under warranty.

BRP had the belt tension way too high - and if the shafts are wearing like mine--- then it sure seems like a manufacturing problem. I would mark yours and keep an eye on it. Gonna pull mine every 5,000 miles, clean it and check for wear.
