• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just had a long phone conversation with Carlo. It seems that BRP is making arrangements with a Venezuelan BRP dealer in Caracas (the capital, 500 miles away) to carry the Spyder line.

That is sort of reassuring, and definitely a lot closer than Honduras... :D

We discussed my SE5 creeping problems (now subsiding) and agreed to continue blipping when / if it occurs again.

I have to perform the first oil change very soon, and will see how it behaves after that.

Good news. I have done that ride (Maracaibo-Caracas) and is brutal. Considering the state of some roads those 500 miles are equivalent to a 800 mile ride in the US. Be careful!

Pilo, you lost me on the "AKA", what does that mean?

Yes, "How much?" is the #1 question we all get. I am not sure it is a "Material Orientation" question, though. I get the impression it is more, "What will it take for me to have one?" - kind of a 'price of admission' question. Getting asked that question always leaves me a little non-plused though, asking the price of something was something that I was brought up to not to do - I was taught it was a rude question - like asking "How much do you make?"

I do prefer that question to the statement, "Get off!" - when accompanied with gun pointing at you. :yikes: ( has not happened yet )

AKA means 'above the knee amputation'. I lost my left leg in a bike accident in late 2000. The SE5 is the perfect bike for my kind of disability. :2thumbs:

I have the same non-plussed feeling :( when I am asked that question, as I was also brought up like you.

I have thought about being asked to get off at gun-point, but I also wonder how the proverbial thieve will know what to do in order to ride the SE5. :dontknow:

Furthermore, it is so unique (especially here) that I don't think anybody will have the guts to try to steal it and be seen with it... :yikes:

I have done the Maracaibo-Puerto La Cruz ride (800 miles) 3 or 4 times. When I had the accident in late 2000, I was traveling back from PLC to MBO on my 1999 CBR900RR when a 18 year-old kid with an old SUV (oncoming) turned left to go to the beach in Tucacas.

So far, I am not yet planning to do long trips on the SE5. We'll see... BTW, I am in Paraguana now visiting friends and looking for work opportunities, and I believe that I can do this trip in the Spyder, carrying the luggage bungee-corded on top of the pillion... :doorag:

Pilo its good to know there are riders everywhere. I have a recurrent fantasy of heading down through Mexico and trying to make it to Uruguay and Argentina. lol

Hey Dochands:

If you ever get to Argentina (my country) on your Spyder, you won't regret it..., and probably would like to stay a little longer (like forever...) :clap:
