• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Sometimes it will creep forward up to 5-8 mph problem is intermittent. Are any of you SE5 owners out their having this same issue?

I think it's your driveway...

Otherwise, I have no idea. I would certainly bring her in though. That's not right.

There is a known issue with the SE5 clutch sometimes not dissengaging presenting symptions exactly as you have described. Sometimes the engine will idle very fast 1600to1800 and sometimes the clutch will not disengage at all and cause the bike to stall. I have been experiencing this problem for about a month now with my 2008 SE5. BRP was contacted and have shipped to my dealer some new "clutch rollers" that they believe will elliminate the problem. I will be getting this "fix" installed under warenty this coming Tuesday. Have your dealer contact the BRP service tech to get more information on the problem.

We have been in contact with BRP on this. It is normal to have some movement at idle AFTER the bike has been ridden. Similar to an automatic transmission in a car you do need to cover the brake while stopped in traffic and/or idling. The clutching is activated via centrifical force and engages at a very low RPM. This allows for instantanious reaction when the throttle is applied. They could have calibrated the clutch to activate at higher RPMs but that would have created a lag when the throttle was activated.

This sounds like a different issue other than a creep. The fact that the bike stalled at idle does sound like there may be another issue with the clutch. The rollers do engage the clutch and if the are binding it could cause a stall at idle.

creeping...

A car goes forward when in gear and the brake is not applied...although I have the manual Spyder, it sounds normal to me to have some creep in...that way you won't roll backward when at a stop light...

Get in a car and you'll see the same thing...

Just a thought...

My Dealer told me that this is normal even though i rarely see this happen anymore it was quite common when i first got it.

My dealer got the official word from BRP today and they said while it is not normal for the spyder to move at idle in 1st gear it has become a common characteristic of the spyder. As interpreted by my dealer means nothing will be done about it. Maybe if more complain BRP will listen. :dontknow:

Totallly different system.

Other than a couple of the highend "sport sedans" with a similar electronic controled clutch giving one a choice of shifting or just letting the computer do it the automatic transmission is not the same. It is engaged through a fluid flow system and not a physical clutch engaged by the computer. Nearly all automotive systems, both automatic and computer shifted have anti creep/anti rollback systems with sensors on the brake and throttle.

All the SE-5 problems seem to have some relationship to the computer control and sensors. This is obvious when a computer reset (shutting off and waiting) clears the problem, at least temporally. I have bout the creep and sometimes locking in a gear with NO shift control.

I have not heard back from my dealer yet but my SE5 still almost stalls some times going into first or has high rpm's this can't be normal and has to be fixed or there might be some lemon laws coming into affect.:spyder:

mine also does this, sometimes when at a stop light I can let off the brake and it will just sit there. other times if I let off the brake it will creep forward

Same here...sometimes it creeps other times not at stop lights. I have a suspicion that it happens because the idle point is not 100% consistent. I was paying attention to it last night and it seemed to me that when the machine was creeping the idle was just a teeney bit higher than normal.

I have seen this a few times too. If I want to take my foot off and I am on a flat surface, I can usually shift to Neutral then back to first and it goes away.

i just got mine back from the shop and it was doing the same thing .they said it showed some error code .they reset it and it works great:2thumbs:

I have the same issue, but as earlier discussed seems to do with a touch of hicher RPM's fpr me. I can put it in "N" and back into first and it works fine. Talked with Dealer and he said it is still new. Wait till it breaks in a little.

Occasionally mine creeps in first too. I have had several cars that did it so it it doesn’t bother me much. Like has been said shifting into neutral and back seems stop it if it is bothersome.
I am hoping it will go away as the machine gets some miles on it and the clutch brakes in.
