There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. SE5 Clutch Recall for RT

I have 6000 miles on my RT and have not had the clutch recall done because my local dealer has not recieved all the parts that are necessary and cannot tell me when they will arrive. I had planned to leave this weekend on a 5000 mile trip out West but I'm having second thoughts because of the clutch situation and possible problems on the road as far as the bike locking up. Just wondering if anybody would know the percentage of SE5 bikes having clutch problems so I can figure out my odds of being stuck on the road somewhere and having to call a skid truck. I e-mailed BRP 10 days ago addressing this problem but have had no response. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

We all are still waiting on parts the clutch situation is really more of an inconvinese than anything it effects very few bikes and really all it does is cause the bike to creep forward at a full stop if you blurp the throttle it will stop...so wouldn't woorie about it too much......just my 2 cents

First off welcome

I know for a fact that the needle bearings are in stock at BRP, thats the only thing you really need for this repair. The other two things are a rubber gasket that can be reused and two crush washers for the banjo bolt on the hydraulic line. I've reused both without an issue.

If I was you I would get the weights for the clutch replaced and not worry about the gasket and washers.

welcome:clap:

Not having driven your ryde to know what it is doing vs mine... All I can do is give you my experience.

If it is stalling in 1st because you have to "Apply" more brake to keep form hitting someone or simply coming to a stop... I would take the trip.

By "flipping" or Blipping" the throttle (Quick powering of the engine) my Spyder releases the tranny from the "Bound" state it is in and I can come to a safe clean, normal stop.

So far that has worked every time. I am not saying it is the solution to anyone's problems, but it makes our Ryde much safer by doing it. Of course safer yet is not to ryde it.

Additionally. If you are not experiencing it now... The likelihood of it happening on the road is significantly reduced. That said.... It happens to me at least once every 20 miles in city driving. Never had the issue on the HWY... Not yet anyway :pray::pray:

Still your call. Getting stranded is not a good idea. But even the hard stalls (Dies in 1st, stays in gear not allowing it to start or go to neutral)... Then that is the tough issue. We have to either wait for it to cool down or rock it back and forth to get it in neutral.

Or.... Hit the starter while applying the brake, allowing the starter to actually be moving the bike and mine fires up every time...

YOur call.. Good luck with your choice!!! :spyder::spyder2:

Got My Clutch Replaced Today...

I had the recall done on my clutch today. HOLY COW WHAT A DIFFERENCE! :2thumbs: The job took a few hours and the tech did a real good job. The bike behaves like a completelty different machine now.. It's so smooth I can't believe it. I had no idea how bad the original clutch was.

Drive away is smooth and positive now, not all that feathering crap like before. And coming to a stop it's so smooth I have to check to see if I'm in neutral! I am totally stoked. So much so I filled the tank and made a 165 mile run all over the place! :ohyea:

Then I get home and my sway bar is sitting on the couch!! :D Today was a good day. It's good to have a good day every once in a while!

So,

All the dealers out there who claim to be "waiting" for parts are talking out of their a**?!

See, my dealer looked at me funny when I mentionned this. He said "I ordered dozens of recall parts in advance and they all came in, even before the recall, heck, they still show in stock at BRP!"

There's a bunch of dealers out there who seem very fishy. Thankfully, my recall was ordered, done and sent me happily down the road in a few hours. Ahhhh....the joys of a great dealer!

I wouldn't say that. If they are waiting on the rubber gasket or crush washers they are just going by the letter of the law. There were some backordered parts but the needle bearing weights are not one of them now.
