• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

im about to buy a new spyder and ,would like to get the auto trans.,but some one told me they are having trouble shifting,or slow shifting, has any one with the autos had any troubles with theres sifting?:dontknow: thanks for any help i dont want to make a big mistake,iv had 50 motorcycles and can shift gears but i think i could get my wife to ride an auto.

Absolutely no problems with shifting my 2009 SE5. In fact, the only problem I have had is the license plate light fell off so check that and get a longer screw installed. Best and easiest ride of my life!

When my 2008 SE5 was new, it had an intermittent creeping at stops in first gear (reported by many here), but that's all gone now, it eventually went away by itself, it shifts perfectly up and down and into neutral.

My "Better Half" has an 09 SE5 and no problems at all. I ride it occasionally to make sure things are functioning normally. It is 15 months old and not a problem anywhere. Ken krb1945

Bought the SE5 for my wife, and she is getting very good at it, and has never ridden before. No problems with the shift at all. I have ridden it hard using full throttle and going through the gears, and it works great.

Get the SE5. I can only hope you love yours as much as I love mine! Just short of 12,000 miles and *shhhhhh* absolutely no problems -- including none with the SE5 functionality.

My 09SE5 has been in the shop over 40 days for shifting -solenoid problems that were hard to diagnose(They Say?). :dontknow:
The shifting WAS excellent before!!:D

30K miles and NO ISSUES with SE5 transmission...

I've never had an issue with the SE5 transmission in my 2008 RS (GS back then). Crisp shifts, and does everything it's supposed to do without fail.

RTS-SE5 clutch trouble

YES WE HAVE! The centifical clutch fails to disengage when coming to a stop in first gear! :gaah:several of rts-se5 owners here in the North west have that issue. :helpsmilie:The last time it happened (prior to reprogramming the computer) it practically threw me (pass) off.It shifts down on it's own (or do it yourself) but if it fails to disengage, it stalls out..like a cars clutch & you fail to press it when stopping.once it does that it is imposs. to start again (because it is "still in gear") :yikes:
There is a fix though so no worries. :2thumbs:
Which one are you looking to buy????
want a Orbitol Blue one??? (has a utopia back rest & cb/comm.ect.. system

Mine drifts too when I try to shift to first at too low a rpm

If ur gonna use first thru a low speed corner etc engage it around 4000 plus then you can engine brake accelerate etc

A downshift at lower rpm the tcm assumes a coast to stop

Even if it did shift the clutch is engine braking would be pretty harsh

Think of it as a feature but just use it to coast to a stop

The RS-S (now my Wife's Spyder) is an SE5 and it shifts flawlessly. When I had it I shifted that thing like an F1 car and it never failed me once. I did have the clutch issue (No disengage coming to a stop) but they replaced it and it's all good. The SE5 is a great box! I'm very impressed with it.

14 of course is a SM5 and I have to apply a slightly different technique. We'll see if the SM5 can match the SE5. So far the SE5 is slghtly more nimble in cornering but that I believe that is more a function of the pilot needing to improve! :roflblack: One thing the SM5 can do is slide the back end a little better (with proper technique, of course!) I'm gettin there! :2thumbs:

There was/is a recall on the RT model of the SE5, but I am not sure if it applied to the 2010 RS or not. Some issues were found, but they are all being repaired under the recall.

I am in the same boat as the others, my 2009 SE5 shifts flawlessly. I did have to get a new GPS sensor early on, but have been trouble free ever since then. I also thought I would never want the SE5, but now wouldn't want it any other way! It makes ryding a whole lot more fun, and I can still smoke the tar out of the rear tire without having a clutch to dump at high RPMs. :D
