• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Yesterday on a short ride, downshifting for a stop light, spyder dies and trannie stuck in 1st gear. Turned ignition off and went through the typical starting proceedure. Nothing. Try after try would not go back to neutral nor would it start as it typically will in 1st. Someone
posted this same problem months ago and I remember reading thinkin the sucks. Well thanks to that post, I pulled the side cover exposing the shift linkage and with a small set of lock pliers was able to shift her to neutral. Fired rite up. No issues rest of the ride. Thanks to this forum and the folks that post these fixes. My day went for :( to :D in only a few minuites..

I think this was the fix...

Same thing happened to me many moons ago. But I was the cause. I pulled in the driveway and stopped, then I reached up and turned off the key while it was in first gear. Don’t hold me to this, but I think if you are in that condition all you have to do is depress the foot brake and hold it and it will fire right up. I think it was just that easy. I’m sure others will let me know if that is wrong. People seem to jump on your mistake here faster then spell-checker. Ride safe to all…

PS. Once it starts it either shifts into neutral or at least it will allow you to…

You are correct!

With the SE5, if you turn off the ignition in 1st and go to start up again, you must have your foot on the brake and upon starting the tranny will shift to neutral.

And also, if you turn off the ignition without setting the parking brake, it sure gets very LOUD and embarrassing, doesn't it?
