• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SE-5 SHIFTING PROBLEMS

Major, there's another thread on SpyderLovers with details on the "grounding the coil" fix, includes photos if you re interested. The fix is an official service bulletin from BRP to the dealers.

Since you asked, the coil generates high voltage to the spark plugs, making the the air/fuel mixture in the cylinders explode, making Spyders move fast!!!

Ok, I have read about this coil fix, but have not been able to find any post with pics of where to go. Anybody have any?

anybody have a reference number (or whatever its called)for the service bulletin? i called my dealer, they looked it up but couldnt find anything...

The problem has been seen before and there are several threads about it.
It's most likely the gear position sensor failing, though there are other causes.

Hopefully your dealer will be able to sort it out.

They chaged the sensors ans oil pressure sping on mine last week. I've been out of town so the only risding that I did was bringing it home. Really a big improvement, I trust it will stay that way.

This should help you on the coil wires fix:
http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10800&highlight=coil+wire

NOTE: The "coil wires fix" is new and separate from bulletin 2009-01 involving replacement of the gear position sensor, a spring and computer reprogramming.

I'll go a step further...if your BRP/Spyder dealer is clueless on all this stuff, call Ryan the service manager at Bradford Marine in Little Rock, Arkansas at (501) 833-2628. He turned me on to the wires fix before it was released to the dealers, and after multiple calls and emails, he seems to know Spyders.
