• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SE-5 SHIFTING PROBLEMS

I have the same problem with transmission. Blinking display when i drive in 5th gear.... 5-4, 5-4, 5-4....I called dealer today and they say to me that software update will help. I think that dealer must replace gear position sensor....what do u think? Thank you

it is better they do the bulletin complete from a-z the spring increases oil pressure to aid shifting and the gbps sensor reads more acurately and reduces electrical issues, the program also helps

My 09 SE 5 continues to be down , going on the fifth week at the dealer.
Gear position sensor, spring and download all completed. Oil pressure within limits.

Still sticks in gear and doesn t up or downshift. BRP aware and investigating problem .

I still Love my SE 5 .

Had the TSB upgrade last week on my SE5 and the bike runs excellent now. Covered under warranty. BRP should have recalled the units but at least they fix works when requested.

Help me here. What is the TSB upgrade?

I still love my SE 5. It s such a great ride , i have missed it so much in the last weeks.

Yes me to

Yes, my spyder is currently in the shop for the same issue. It is one month old and I am upset. This is a BIG!!!! silent issue that needs to be addressed. It is embarassing and frustrating. It started after one month of owning my spyder. I noticed that it occurs when the temperature gauge has three or more bars (which is usually after five minutes of riding). I will come to a traffic light and put in neutral; when the light turns it want go into first. After all of the horns stop blowing I cut off and wait for a few minutes and then it resets. I then started to leave it in first gear when I come to a light. That did not help because it would not shift into second. It is in the shop as I type. The dealer received some computer part which they are replacing. Doe anyone have any ideal what is going on. I am pissed.

complete service on 6.000 km, changing gear position service, spring, lube somewhere in the front and software take 4 hours.....I think that u should change your dealer...

Why would you shift into neutral while at a stop light? Not a safe practice - you need to be ready to move quickly at all times- and have a plan of action on where you can move to if need be.

Disappointed

Hi to all SpyderLovers, :dontknow:
This is my first time to attempt a thread so a little patience is appreciated,
I, like so it seems many others have the same sort of problems with the transmission.
When I first pick my S/B 08 SE5 I had all sorts of warnings flashing across the display, Check DPS, Temp gauge reading about 10 degrees higher, oil light flashing on most of the time, and starting an intermittent problem. When I had a look around the machine I found that none of the battery leads where tightened up. This only solved the DPS warning and made it easier to steer at lower speeds. With the transmission it wants to throw me out of the saddle sometimes when it’s changing down, and making a very harsh dry noise through all gears, also considerable vibration.
I had a test ride on the demo bike it was smooth and in changing down automatically had a little blip of power and changed smoothly, mine is like someone trying to break out with a sledge hammer. After this ride it was a must have. Not so sure Now.
With taking it back to the dealer and having it test ridden, diagnostically checked they said it was fine, with a tweak of something here and there(DUR, it’s not). But when I went to leave “in disgust” it wouldn’t start, in showing the mechanic this he decided to replace the selector switch for the transmission. I am still waiting for it to be acquired and fitted. Has anyone experienced the very disappointing start that I am having?
Ok enough belly aching for now, I love the concept of the Spyder, but I would just like a smoother ride.

Still Not WORKING - tAKE IT bACK

I got my spyder back today after BRP sent my dealer a part to replace regarding my shifting issue. After 15 minutes I was stuck again in traffic as it would not shift. I am taking it back to the dealer in the morning and telling them I do not want it. I am very disappointed. I am seeking the lemon law clause. Enough is enough. :gaah:

I agree with you...it's actually dangerous to be left stranded in the middle of the street...plus, the stress of dealing with the issue isn't worth it. The dealership should talk with BRP and get this resolved finally...perhaps switch you to a SM5 or get a new SE5...either way, as you said, enough is enough...

Good luck...

Major,

Curious - who is your dealer?

I got my SM5 from Riva in Pompano - no troubles so far so I cannot comment on their service.

I have heard good things about Broward Motorsports in Davie.

Dealer

My Dealer is Motorsports of Fort Lauderdale. I just spoke with them again today and after they changed the TMC or TCM (?), the computer is now stating I need a GPS. The dealer is going to order and it should be completed by Tuesday. Whew... I will see what happens then. On the other hand I will be calling BRP on Monday morning informing them I want to give it back and will move forward with the Lemon Law. I am not confident in this machine and no matter what is exchanged it will have shifting problems. If I am wrong I will keep the bike. But I will ride the heck out of it on Tuesday when I pick it up and if I encounter a problem at least I have already started the process for BRP to take it back. I think BRP has no idea what is going on and I am collecting my information for the Lemon Law because my yellow bike is truly a lemon. The dealer has been cool about it and are really trying their best, but what else can they do? I asked them to follow up with BPR on Monday along with me so I can dumped this thing.

Shifting Problem Resolved

Okay here is the latest as of May 2009. I finally got BRP and my dealer on a conference call. At first they had the dealer change the GPS, then the transmission module, and finally some updates. I got it back and within a few minutes and was returning. A second conference call took place the next day and BRP had the dealer ground the coil with a ten gauge wire. Whatever the coil is. Nonetheless, IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been riding and riding and riding and riding and NO PROBLEMS.
BRP explained that the coil was transmitting a frequency that was causing an interruption with the computer modules. WHATEVER it works!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!

THEY FINALLY FIXED IT

I got my spyder back today after BRP sent my dealer a part to replace regarding my shifting issue. After 15 minutes I was stuck again in traffic as it would not shift. I am taking it back to the dealer in the morning and telling them I do not want it. I am very disappointed. I am seeking the lemon law clause. Enough is enough. :gaah:
BRP had the dealer ground the coil with a ten gauge wire and it works perfectly. Inform your dealer to contact BRP ASAP.

...have read that some other :spyder2: owners have had the "Ground the Coil" fix done to their machines and all is fine. 2200 miles on my SE5 and so far - all OK... but I'll sure keep this fix in mind...

Now you can go back to smiling while you ride your :spyder2:!!

Thanks

don
