Schuberth M1 Helmet

I purchased this helmet and have been wearing it for 15 minutes a day over the past week. It’s very comfortable except at the forehead. It becomes irritating during this break-in period. Does anyone know of a technique that could help alleviate the pressure at the forehead? I thought about removing the liner and using my dremel with a rotary sandpaper attachment to remove a few millimeters of foam. Any other ideas are welcomed.

Before anyone starts down the “void your warranty” path, I really don’t care about that. This will happen. I just want to know about a good way of removing just a few millimeters. TIA

Little checking..!!

high quality helmets offer sized liners. Have you checked with them if they have a smaller head band..?? Dremel would work but a dusty mess one of those snap point razors fully extended would be better...

Thanks for the reply's.

I have Schuberth's largest size, 2XL but it's for round heads, mine is oval (I really like the helmet). It take manufactures awhile to release liners for new helmets. Look at the J-Cruise, it took Shoei more than a year to come out with thinner liners.

I had the exact problem with my G-Max helmet. I used a die grinder with a fine stone to cut down the foam. It didn't solve the problem, just moved the pressure point. I ended up getting another G-max one size larger. I still experienced some forehead pressure so I sewed a small piece of felt to the liner at the pressure point, seems to help somewhat, but still bothers me at times.

Did you read what you said

Why would you buy a helmet that is designed for a different head shape than what you have. A square peg doesn't fit in a round hole. I would recommend Arai, they are designed for Oval heads. A technique that can work, depending on how far off you are, is to take the rounded part of a spoon and apply pressure to the foam. This will help compress the foam in the front of the helmet and relieve some pressure. You will need to massage the area of the foam for a while until it compresses enough to be comfortable!

I have always had this problem with Shoei helmets. My head is more oval shaped and so I get a mean headache from the pressure point at my forehead.

My solution, which has worked on every Shoei helmet I've owned, is to take a large diameter socket or just use my fingers to crush the EPS foam liner that's between the shell and the inner soft liner about 1/4 inch and only at the forehead area.

I don't take anything away and only crush the EPS foam enough to eliminate the pressure point. My RF 1100 is so comfortable now, I can wear it for hours.
