• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Owned and used both. Sena is hands down the best. Much easier to operate and longer battery life. You get what you pay for.

I have owned both brands also. I currently own and prefer the Sena units. I find clearer reception on the Sena units. Also like the fact that once on, the Sena units stay on without having to speak when opening the channel.

A DumbQuestion?

Can a person with a Scala Rider system talk with a person with a Sena system, or are they incompatable?

I think you can get the Scala Rider G9X on Amazon for $279/pr right now.

Compatibility

I have the same question as TexasSpyder.

Can a person with a Scala Rider G9X system talk with a person with a Sena SMH10 system over intercom or are they totally incompatible.

Thanks,

I think the answer right now is no. Each company has it's own bluetooth protocol. The Sena 20S that is to be released soon is advertised to have that capability. Many Sena SMH10 users are predicting that it will have that capability as well with a firmware update but I don't think Sena has announced that yet and from what I read it may not be a simple as that.
Unless you have an immediate need, I would wait for Sena to release the new 20S. I know Motorcycle Dave is taking pre orders for those now.

Bluetooth only has a 30 ft range.
I don't think that these headsets are using Bluetooth for intercom when talking to another rider 500 feet away.
I may be wrong, please let me know if i am.

I bought the Scala G9 because I was going on a trip and everyone I was riding with had Scala's. I agree with you I love it when it works but I too am on my 3rd and my husband is on his second. We bought ours at Cycle Gear and they exchanged them for us every time.
