• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

sc ride?

Wind!!

Picked up the SPYDER this morning and rode home. Had the roughest time trying to keep it on the road due to high winds. Any suggestions on how to make it handle better? Fun ride!!:2excited: Can't wait to take a short trip. If you ever want to talk, my phone # is 803-438-2455. Thanks.

Handling

We have an RTS with about 1200 miles so far. The 3 best things I did for handling were; adjusted front shocks to 4, adjusted front tire pressure to 19-20, quit fiddling with the rear air control. We ride 2 up and experienced much of the same wind down here but after the adjustments, it was like a completely different Spyder. Co pilot noticed it too. Try it after you get used to it. It's not a motorcycle, it's a :spyder2:.Woot!

Info.

Thanks for the information. I will make those adjustments right now and try it out. Boy!! those SPYDERS get allot of stares. It took 15 min. to get away from people in a parking lot with questions. Maybe some weekend my wife and I can meet you for dinner somewhere.

:congrats: on picking up your Spyder.

The 30 mph winds we are having don't help things much when you are trying to learn to ryde your Spyder.

The first thing is to keep a very light grip on the handlebars. This is not like a motorcycle where you need to give it a decent amount of input to get it to go where you want it to. The Spyder will track very straight, you just have to trust it. For many people it has taken a couple hundred miles or so before they get used to it. Practice, practice, practice, and stay safe out there.

The more you ride the better you will like the handling. The first time I rode mine home from the dealer I thought what the :cus: have I done but after learning how to ride the :spyder2:I wouldn't take anything for it unless it was a new:spyder::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Introduction

Hi. I just brought home a new Spyder. Been riding Triumph Speed Triples forever. The trip home from the dealer was all highway and holy smokes is it touchy. I understand it will take a little getting use too.

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new Spyder.

It is definitely not a motorcycle, and takes a little bit of getting used to. You basically need to unlearn many things that come natural to you, such as counter steering, and forcing the handlebars. A light grip will serve you best and it will not seem as touchy.

If you have any questions about anything Spyder related, it might help you get more looks if you post in the General Discussion area as well.

If there is anything I can help you with, let me know and I will be glad to try.

Before I got my RSS, I took my Dad's Spyder out a few times and thought the same thing. It kept crossing the center line and I thought "this is horrible". However, after riding it a few times I got used to it and wouldn't have it any other way. You'll find your groove. I have been working in South Carolina the past two weeks and have not been able to bring the Spyder down. Now that the weather is soooo nice, I envy every bike that goes by.

On another note, a stray dog ran in front of my car on I-95 South on Tuesday while I was cruisin' at 70. It took out my lower bumper, fog light, and pushed my radiator back into the motor. So, please be vigilante out there.

I just purchased my Spyder RS today and pick it up tomorrow. I live in the Moncks Corner/Summerville Area and always interested in weekend rides.
