• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Say "Hello" to 84 mpg

Elio

A friend of mine is looking seriously at buying one of these. When he looked into licensing the vehicle here in Missouri, he found out that the Missouri DMV considers this a motorcycle because it has less than 4 wheels. Therefore, he will be required to wear a helmet.

You can buy a place in line but so far they are vapor ware... a little googling shows production to start in 2015... maybe.

I wouldlike guess the 84 MPG is a long down hill slope.
I would like see it be real, but several claims seem pretty far out.

They've been trotting the one or two prototypes around the country taking orders to get on the list. For $100 you also get a T-shirt! Likely that's all you will get. Originally they said they would be out in '13, then '14 and now its '15. If they can sell them for $6000 as advertised, I'll eat your hat. A simple Rotax 2 stroke water cooled motor costs way more than that. I love the looks of it and would like to see it produced, but am doubtful as heck. :sour:

I have been following them since they came out and have one on reserve as I got in when they had the $100 refundable option. I figure I have wasted $100 on other things not as nice as this. I have seen the first prototype and also sat it in and am impressed in their advances over the past year and half. It will be amazing if they can pull it off with the 84mpg and $6800 price tag but I am not holding my breath for both things....

These Elio marketing guys are back on the Can Am Spyder forum??? I guess they think that we drive a three wheel motorcycle so we would want a three wheel car.

Ah well..!!

:popcorn::popcorn: been waiting, have heard about the 2015 date but many have come and gone. Will see if the claims hold at to price and mileage...:lecturef_smilie:

He's not an "Elio Guy"... (Whatever that is!)
Based upon our choice of a Three-wheeled motorcycle; wouldn't a five-wheeled car make more sense? :D

If and when they are available I would like to see one up close and a test ride maybe
before I would pull the trigger. But it is a great idea, but still won't replace my Spyder
or my beast (VTX 1800N).

beware before you buy... the states are looking into changing the titles on some of these 3 wheelers.. i live in west virginia and they have changed the titles on stallions ..i think it is concidered a auto cycle...the insurance companies will have a field day with that...

There are several threads concerning Elio on this forum. A couple were actually locked down due to advertising issues.

I recommend doing your research very carefully.

Bottom line: lots of promises, delivery date changed at least three times--now into 2015. Last information said they did not even have working engines yet. The models have plastic inserts to show the engine.

It almost sounds to good to be true. IMO--of course.
