• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thanks! There's a lot of folks with the new RTs doing even better than I am...
I'm curious about the numbers for this poll...
It's currently showing 70%, to a bit over 32%
That's 102%... :dontknow:

...also the 2400 miles is round trip. I am not rushing to get back home just need to be in Raleigh, NC on August 30th by 11am. So basically I need to make the 1200 miles in a timely manner, but the rest is no issue. I want to get to Georgia in one day and then take the last 400 ish miles the next day but as you all know some days you feel like you can ride forever and other days a couple hundred miles feels like death. Since I have never done more than 600 miles in a day I am not 100% sure I can do 800 in a day so if I get a room that will take more time. I will leave on the 28th and if I get there earlier than planned then so be it.

When you take your time you save your mind, when waste the gas you can bust your a _ _!:yikes:

Hello all,

I hope that today as well as all of the others that end in Y go well for you. I have a trip coming up in about 4 weeks and I have been going over the numbers in my head and gas alone will be roughly $400(round trip). The total trip should be about 2400 miles so I am thinking on average a fill up for me is about $18. I know for some of you, $400 is a drop in the bucket but for me it is a gush of water in the bucket nojoke...so my quandary is this: do I ride slower to save fuel, but lose precious time or burn up the highway to save time and maybe energy but lose precious fuel? What have some of you done on your long trips? Thanks in advance for entertaining my thoughts.

Yell if you have time for a cup of coffee when you get here to Raleigh.

Slow folks are the cause of traffic grid lock.nojokenojokenojoke. How could people drives 10mph on 60mph highway road? I can understand if there's accident/incident ahead. Think about this.
I'm sure you guys had this experience before.

What's your point? :dontknow:
Are you saying that "taking your time", will require riding 50 mph under the posted speed limit?

I've seen plenty of "50-overs"; never a "50-under"... :D

Maybe it's the "Recreational Marijuana" out there??? :roflblack:

Didn't buy mine for gas mileage , I work a 1/4 of a mile from my house at best. It rides slow with my Daughter on the back , but I like to hear it rev and rip:spyder:

I agree sir, I didn't buy mine for gas mileage either, however for me gas mileage matters on a trip of this distance due to the cost of fuel. It's not the Spyder's fault that I haven't saved more money for the trip but I have to play the hand I have and cut costs where I can.

Have you done any experimenting with various trip speeds, and how they might affect your mileage? :dontknow: When I had my 2010, and ran my usual 62 mph or so out on the interestates; I'd easily get 36 to 38 mpg...
Push it to 75, and it'd drop to 28 mpg...
But these RTs are the aerodynamic equivalent of a Big Ole Barn Door! :D
Your resuilts with the RS will vary...

For me I do both on a trip. I live out west where their are long stretches of boring freeways and desert interstates where going the speed limit will get you run over, let alone under the limit. However, when the road turns scenic, I slow it down and enjoy where most of the cagers will do the same (hopefully). And, if not, then I will pull over and let them go by and keep on enjoying the ride.
