Saturday, June 4th

Where is your destination in Astoria, I might be able to hook up with you from Washington.

Hadn't really picked out a place yet, I know there is an English Pub on the water that isn't too bad. But I think we are all open to suggestions, even if it only near Astoria.

Hadn't planned on stopping in Astoria - just pass through. If we take 202, you turn right after the 101 connector bridge, and really don't go into downtown Astoria.

If some of the folks want to stop, that's fine - I'll continue on. It the rest of the group wants to stop, I'll split off after breakfast. Sorry, but I'd rather not stop at a pub for lunch - especially on a bike. Just my thing.

Historically, I figure Camp 18, roughly 8:30 - in Astoria before 11.... including gas at Fred's - home by 2....

Pub sounds fine to us. Pubs often have fine quality food. Being all good Spyder Ryders, we NEVER drink and ryde, do we now? :yikes: Just because we stop at a Pub doesn't mean we have to drink alcohol....especially when we know better than that. :D We're out for a fun ryde. When and where we stop really doesn't matter. For us, we're not setting a time to get back to Portland....for all we care, it could be after dark. It's going to be a BEAUTIFUL day....we plan on enjoying it to the fullest extent.....and that means being out ryding in it as absolutely much as possible!!

Looks like hubby has to work on Sunday so we are out to ride and enjoy the Saturday on our spyder...

Hi all,

Just got word of a family situation that's going to knock me out of the ride Saturday:gaah::gaah::gaah:. This is a huge disappointment to me since it started with Scott and me wanting to go for a nice ride. I can't tell you how bummed-out I am. I hope you all have a great time. Stopping at a pub sure doesn't mean drinking alcohol. Many pubs just have great food and ambience. Hope this will just be the first of many great outings.

Sorry to see you having to back out. I was looking forward to putting a face to your moniker. Being retired, I'm usually available to ryde most anytime. (hint - hint!!) PM me if you feel the urge - and we'll keep it simple. Like John Travolta said in Wild Hogs when he was freaking out about the Del Fuegos, "I just want to ryde, Man! I just wanna RYDE!!!":yes::yes:

Saturday sounds great with us, meeting everyone at 7:30 and breakfast at Camp 18 too. Beautiful day for a ryde to Astoria. I would like to suggest a great place to eat there called Bowpicker, at 17th & Duane St, just west of the Maritime Musuem. Check it out on google! Excellent reviews and fish & chips. They open at 11:00AM. We're in no hurry and want to enjoy the day and the ryde. Look forward to it!:2thumbs:

I rode to Portland today on FloorBoard business and came back to Newberg via Hwy 26. Found the MD's and then backtracked thru Hillsbrough to Newberg just to confirm my route Sat. morning. No problem, just some light rain. Managed over 100 miles of great riding today and was ready to meet the gang Sat. Sometimes life just gets in the way of my plans. Today was one of those days.:dontknow:

John - there are some terrific day rides in our area - a top pick is Estacada to Detroit to Silverton and home. One of our best day trips.

This will be my bride's FIRST long trip on any kind of bike in well over a decade. Depending on how she does, I may roll home after breakfast… this is a "break-in" for Yellowstone...

Gang,

My plan for the ride was to enjoy the company and the scenery along the way.
So, we meet at MD at 7:30 in the morning and head out to Camp 18 for breakfast, no hurry to eat and go. Then out to the coast, again no hurry. Ride up to Astoria for a relaxing lunch, I will not be having an adult beverage but that is my choice. I like the place mentioned I say we go there. I like the name also, Bowpicker, it is. Since we have a newer rider on the Spyder and 2 up, I say we come back 30, as it will also be easier to get back to The Couve for anyone from there.
I do like the other route but it is, in MHO, a more of a intermiate ride then a first ride for a group.

See everyone Saturday.

Darrell and I are so looking forward to meeting and riding with everyone on saturday. We will get to meet Dragonrider and his bride and we will get to meet Jewell. We have already met Slybird, MsKitty, 8 legged freak and SpyderDan and will be glad to see them all again.

The only long ride we have done on the Spyder was to the Spirit mountain casino and home by way of Tigard It was 129 miles round trip and it was awesome. We sure are loving our spyder.

:ohyea::ohyea::ohyea::yes::yes::yes::clap::clap::clap::congrats: on getting things taken care of so you can go riding with us..We are going to have a lot of fun.

We had a great ryde for the most part. We had 7 Spyders and 10 people at the start for the ryde to Camp 18 for breakfast. It was good to break bread with the group, but we lost one after breakfast.

So we had 6 Spyders and 8 people head out to Seaside, We decided as a group :chat: it would be fun to ryde down the end of the Lewis and Clark trail, the main tourist drag in town to the round about at the beach. We had one of the group go ahead and shoot some fotage of the group going around the end. But he accidentally took great footage of his face instead. :roflblack::roflblack: So we had to do it agian, it might have been better to just ask one of the many other people filming us instead. After spending some time playing tourist, getting the ladies some chocolate fudge samples,:D, we headed to Astoria. Took a slight detour and went over the bridge over the Columbia. Its about a mile long with a hugh span to climb over where the big cargo ships go up the river. Ate lunch at the Bowfinger. Pretty good fish and chips.

All in all, a pretty good day with 165 miles added to the Spyder.

The other Scotty
PS the other will be posting pics, they had the cameras.

It was an absolute ball! the scenery is spectacular! The new friends were great and I added 230 mi. to my Spyder. Looking forward to many more rides with the gang.:2thumbs:
