• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Same song second verse.

Thanks Chris; for putting perspective back in the mix! :2thumbs:

value

we know the value is going to go down, the second you sign the papers the value drops. the main problem i am having is i don't want to sell a bike with problems to a private person because of the person coming back to me, and that brp flooded the dealers with great deals on leftover 13's so the dealers are letting them go for 19k+ and with the heat issues problems no dealer wants a used 13 to be stuck with it.

so i am sure most people understand we are going to lose money but RAPE is just wrong

I never expected my '13 not to decrease in value as the years went by and new models rolled in. Neither did I expect to own a machine where, even long time riders and contributors to this web site, would be warning others to STAY AWAT FROM THE 2013s!! I truly enjoy riding the Spyder and, other than the initial steerig issue, have had a pretty good experience, but right now I don't have a lot of confidence in BRP's R&D!

It did irk me, a bit, when people were ranting about how the value of their "investment" dropped . . . unless you are buying something like the bike in this video, it isn't an investment . . . it is a toy. If you really think a 2013 Spyder from a dealer was an investment, I have some stock in the Brooklyn Bridge I'll be happy to sell you!

Yes, this discussion comes up every year but I think that the issues with the 2013 have had a much bigger impact on the resale value. I'm pretty sure that there weren't multiple dealers selling RTS SE5 at $19,999 last year. Depreciation is like death and taxes but the hit on the 2013 is like being murdered by your CPA.

Fact based.....:agree:

As I see it..!!

it's not the fact that it will, but the amount that it will. If the dealers were not given incentives and a free hand the devaluation would be at a normal pace and the issuses would only cause a hard sale. I do feel this will better in time but certainly not soon enough for those with problems. Jmo...!!

As a CPA, :agree:.

I note that I stayed out of the conversation last year on that particular thread.

I had just recently purchased our new 2011 in July of 2012. I did it to save a couple thousand $'s as well as getting a reasonable trade when I handed off my Vulcan 900 cruiser--saying farewell to two wheels. There was so much pre-talk about the 2013 that even I was somewhat overwhelmed.

A little different this year--IMO.
