• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sam’s Club closings

Sad....

Was the first and we enjoyed it while in florida till COSTCO came along. Looks like we are safe down here in the deep south (west coast). There are so many more COSTCO around here and I only know of one Sam's Club....:sour:

There are two Sam's Clubs within an hour of us, and they are unaffected.

But not a Costco in sight! :dontknow:

They are closing the one in my town. I went last night, because they are taking 25% off of everything. There was a line outside of the building, going around the building. They will only let so many people in the store at one time. People were leaving with carts over filled with stuff. It looked crazier than on Black Friday.

Costco’s and the 2nd Amendment don’t mix. They are responsible for the death of Eric Scott. Don’t get me started.

They're closing the one in Casa Grande, Az and the one in Chandler. They're the 2 closest to me while here for the winter. They just built the one in Casa Grande 3 years ago.

There is another one close by in Chandler you can use. Here is their website and directions:

https://www.samsclub.com/club/chandler-az-sams-club/6213

It is the one we use - just off the I-10 at Ray Road then south on 54th Street (the first traffic light).

All three of ours will be gone. Two in Anchorage and one in Fairbanks. We never visited the stores. Costco was our choice.

We don't have any Sam's Clubs in Vermont , but they are closing the one in Seabrook, New Hampshire.

The public reason given was that they expected significant growth in the areas where they built new stores and it didn't happen.
Happened here in Nampa, ID about 8 years ago. Opened up a brand new Sam's Club and closed it 2 years later. Couldn't make it competing with Costco.

That could be a factor but more likely Sam Walton's legacy. He didn't get rich by hanging onto slow moving product! If it doesn't sell, don't keep it on the stock list.

:agree: The Waltons don't owe everybody a store. It's financially unwise to keep underperforming locations open.
Does it stink for the employees?
Hell Yeah! :gaah:

But they can start making the tough decisions after they open their own stores.

why are they closing stores, is it because of wage increases?

Because with the influx of the internet for shopping and Amazon, its no longer necessary to buy ketchup by the case. These wholesale clubs are a relic of a gone day and sales are declining rapidly. Costco too but they have not shuttered stores yet.

:agree: Amazon is even using drones for their car purchasing services! :2thumbs:

 I guess that they're still working the kinks out of the system...

I have 1 in Prescott Valley closing and 1 in North Scottsdale closing, both within 1 hour of me. Both areas are high growth areas so I don't buy the lack of growth as a viable reason. Possibly unrealistic expectations, pricing? Both locations have a Costco within a few hundred yards as well. Both Costcos are CRAZY busy all the time. Both Sams Clubs you can shoot a canon off in side both stores and never hit anyone. Have never seen all registers being used and usually it's no more than 3 out of about 20. Seems off that you would put a Sams Club across the parking lot to a huge Wal-Mart.

the one in Tampa is the closest to be closed.

I wonder what will be done with the real estate?
Don't see a lot of users for big free standing retail.
Maybe homeless shelters?
