• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

To MR. Cooper. AKA Cooper T. Cat. Coops was 15 years old. He had been on hyperthyroid medication for about two months. Just suddenly last Friday he began to go down hill very fast. Took him to an emergency vet on Sunday. She felt he was having a reaction to the medication. His RBC was at 13 when 30 is normal. He was dehydrated. And his weight had dropped another pound. She gave him a bolus of fluids for hydration and some B12. Her recommendations required him to be kept overnight or up to four weeks to try and rehydrate and bring his RBC up. Barring that, a transfusion. All very expensive. We opted to bring him home and see our regular vet today. We had a pressing engagement this morning so when we got back home we checked on him. By then he couldn't even stand up. We rushed him to the vet knowing all along he would not be coming back home.

Our vet couldn't believe how fast he went down. He made some recommendations as well. Again, very expensive. But he also said if it was his cat, he wouldn't do it either. We told him we already made the decision to which he agreed. Cooper was not responding to us. The vet said he would give Cooper a sedative and wait for about 15 minutes and administer the final shot. Cooper was so weak, that the sedative was all that was needed to put him to rest. We were with him to the end, petting him and talking to him.

To some of us, pets are just something to have around. But to most of us they are family. Our "kids". Cooper gave us joy and love for 14 years. It was time for us to return that love.

That's how it should be

That's how it should be. His last memory was being with the ones he loved.

Here is a poem you may find comforting. It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear of the passing of one of our fur friends.

They are family and we love them very much. My friends from the Rainbow Bridge will be waiting to welcome yours.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Know that Mr.Copper is now playing with all the guy and gals and is free.
it truly hurts when they go.:pray::pray:

In time, the moments of pain will fade, but the years of joy will remain with you forever.

Sorry for your loss.

You have our sympathies. My wife and I have two small dogs and they are our kids! Our pets give us all their love and ask nothing in return but we would give them the world if possible. Time will ease the hurt but never completely.

Sad news...

Truly sad new...'s to the family. I know how hard that was and hope the memories help you through...

Very sad, Bruiser........tough times, but it sounds like you've got some great memories of Coops to carry with you always.

Pete

So sorry for your loss. We have two cats in that age range and I appreciate you sharing your story about Mr. Cooper. We will also have a hard time when that time comes. I wish you well and I am sure you will remember all the great times you had with Coops.....

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's probably small comfort right now, but rest assured you gave Bruiser a great life and the best care possible in his final days. I hope I am able to do as well by my two feline overlords.

So sorry to hear you lost one of your family members!
its always hard to lose ones that gave such comfort and joy. :(
Thoughts and prayers to you!
