• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Safety Card Warning

Okay, I understand the lawyers have litigated us into this stuff, but having to wait for the computer to put that stupid screen up every time I switch the Spyder on and then depress the Mode switch in order to start it is ridiculous.:gaah:

Sometimes when I stop for fuel and restart it does not do it, but it still feels like I am waiting for a computer to boot up every time you start it. Especially if you also have the GPS unit plugged in. :gaah:

I removed the card, along with the plastic piece it's glued to. It was just my way of getting back at "the man" ;)

:f_spider: on!!

Actually if you do wait long enough between shutting it off and turning it back on---- the computer IS rebooting.

I recently removed my seat latch pin so I can just lift and fill without turning power on bike off- I no longer have to depress and turn the key to access the gas tank.

Really love having it this way- idea I stole from erags. He removed his after getting stranded once where he couldn't get the seat to unlatch.

I believe that there is a timing issue involved with the safety card message/no message.

I am not sure what the actual interval is, but I am guessing 2-3 minutes.

If I am fast on the fill-up--I generally do not get the safety message--I just turn on the key--the regular screen pops up--and I push start.

:agree:it is so bad that we all suffer for the problems of a few.

The McDonalds hot coffee episode--gave us coffee cups full of warnings that coffee is hot--DUH

The shoe and shorts bomber attempts--now we all treated like criminals.

Just wait until someone does an internal bomb--I cant wait to see the security stuff then. :roflblack:

You'd better be careful with that. :lecturef_smilie:

You could get arrested by the same authorities that bust people for removing the tags from their mattresses! :roflblack:

3 seconds. You can't wait 3 seconds? I don't think it's that big of a deal. I turn on the key, hit the kill switch, press the message button and then the start button.

Make a little money with it. Bet people $5.00 they can't start your Spyder.;)

Here's how I replaced my card. Now when you stop you can pull it out for all to see.

Have you notice that a RS is a lot quicker than a RT  Reason being we had the RT first then I got the RS for myself and I beat him every time when we go to start the:spyder2:, Don't ask me why but when you turn the key on the RS when it starts reading the message you can hit the mode button and you can start it and hubby is still waiting for the card to get through. :roflblack:

I just pull the card holder out [took off the sticker] and use it as a sun shield to protect the gauges from the hot sun.
But i like your warning sticker, I just might have to get one myself.

I've been thinking of going "on the lamb" ever since I did it. I thought I was getting a little paranoid at first, cause I noticed this same black sedan driving up and down my street...hey, I gotta go.....:yikes:

I also pulled off the safety sticker and use the plastic card to keep the sun of the Computer screen on my RS. I believe the RS is quicker since you can hit the mode button anytime and it right into ready to start. I'm not sure but I think the RT's make you wait for the electrons to race around the circuit boards.:dontknow:

I just minimized a copy of my registration and insurance info, and taped up there. stays dry, handy; and keeps me from having to dig through my man prurse.... ;)

Actually, it is more like 15 seconds. I've never hit the kill switch in the sequence you mention.

15 seconds would get annoying. I didn't realize the RT took longer to reboot than the RS. I guess I should know what I'm talking about before typing my thoughts. :opps:

I always hit the kill switch to shut engine off and then turn the key off. So when starting the bike it's always the same routine. Turn key on, hit kill switch, press mode switch and start. 3 to 4 seconds.

I use my safety card pull out as a GPS(3x5 card with printed directions for my trips.):ohyea:It works for me.:D

Don’t turn off the key when you turn off the motor, just use the kill switch, you can still open the seat while the motor is running or after the kill switch, just push in the key and it will work like normal.
If you turn off the key and turn back on within 3-4 minuets you won’t get the safety message.

My Beemers do a similar thing - cycle the gauges, etc. Small price to pay for excellence, my sales guy told me. :-)

An excellent idea :2thumbs:. I also like the idea of using it as a shade cover . Now... if I could just get the :cus::cus: sticky...:cus::cus:sticker off!! Guess I better let my nails grow out a little :gaah:
