• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

saddlebags MY ass!!!! again again and again - BRP anny comment???

Hi guys,,, I was just returning from long trip and i have experience that my original saddle bags for F3 by CanAm are by themselves opening.. - have a look the lock mechanism is still in "lock" position!
On highway it was "just" like this,, unfortunately before the highway I was on twisty roads, and I have lost my GoPRO equipment for about 200$ and reserve key for my spyder that i had in same case, because they did open completely and few things fell off.. & never found them.. :banghead:

Those that know me, I like to complain, I also said in my videos that I do like the approach of BRP when something is wrong.. so now I will be waiting...
Already said this to dealer before i went on the trip, that those lockers are wrong.. now this happens!!!!!
so my question is,

Do somebody faced the same issue?
Do somebody hate that bloody cheap key and the locker that we do have on 1300$ or Eur saddlebags?
Has somebody destroy the key mechanism while opening?? (key or whole locker?)

i did it all.... no I am not the worst skilled person on planet... :lecturef_smilie: :roflblack:

I will not be mentioning, that those saddle bags are not water resistant, neither those inside bags... but here I will be fair with you.. I just did survived out there those horrible floods in Germany, and there were no leak.. maybe the water went off, while they been open :banghead:

Wow...!!

Sorry to hear of your losses due to the faulty locking and sealing of the oem saddlebags on your F3. There has been quite a bit of chatter about them for just what you mentioned but for a long time they were all there was. Don't know who makes them but they are lacking...:banghead::banghead:

I watched your video yesterday in which you mention the saddle bags and one day later they break. Sorry to hear that. Let us know if BRP reaches out to you.

I twisted a key, so I replaced the locks

I'm sorry that you had this issue :(

Back in the early days of the 2015 F3, there were a number of us who got the saddlebags (they were delayed so probably June 2015-ish?) and several people complained about water entering the bags when they were closed and also the cheap keys -- which is not unique to BRP since my husband just twisted a key on one of his aftermarket saddlebags.

Anyway, a number of folks got combo locks from either amazon or ebay or elsewhere and replaced the key mechanism with the combo lock. I opted to go with a large barrel key type lock because i could get 3 locksets keyed alike and replaced the locks in both saddlebags and also my urban rack. I think the combo locks worked with the existing mechanism, but I had to do some "kit bashing" to get my new locks to work. I took pictures and posted them in those early threads.

I have never had a water entry issue with my saddlebags, but I do notice that while locking, I have to do 2 things: 1) make sure that the area where the lock turns (the little latch on the inside of the bag) is clear, so if you have something inside getting in the way, it won't lock (if my liner bag is stuffed too full, I have to push it down). Also 2) I have to push in on the side of saddlebag lid as I lock to make sure that it positively catches -- I can see the difference in the "gap" between the bag and the lid when I do this. As long as I make sure I do these 2 things when I lock my bags, I've had no issues.

Sorry to hear of your issues with the saddlebags.

Will be watching to find out what happens.:popcorn:

Hi Martin,

Please send us your VIN, name of your local servicing dealer, details about what happened and your contact info at [email protected] so we can help sort this out with you.

Hoping you still had a good ride and glad that you made it through the floods.

@chupaca - thanx for your constant support
@brakelight - thank you.. yep its sad..
@vondalyn - thanx its actually a great tip.. but here is one huge BUT - if this were 300eur givi bags, I would do it.. no damm way i move my finger on bags for 1300eur.. no way!
i was already offer that dealer will make me some kind of cover, on his own cost - like a layer with rubber arround, so no water will go in, and bags will be like wrapped around. i think it was very kind from him, but again.. no way, to have this cheap solution. i have bought bags, as on picture, i want to have same functionality without any adidiotnal investement or effort.. also i dont want anything more.
@akspyderman - also joining you  but my ticket for this show is bit expensive :banghead:
@BRP - as always, i like what you guys do take care, you do have my mail, detailed what has happen.. so let see..
