• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

saddle bag help

Looking for saddle bags fo the spyder, will only use them a few times a year, don't want to spend alot for something high end. I was thinking in the $200 or less. Any help would be great. Thanks:2thumbs:

Depends partly on what color you have. Nelson Rigg makes a Silver Streak series that are silver and black and looks great with the full moon color. They have standard size, mini sport (I use these so my wife can use the passenger pegs with the bags on), tail bags, tank bags, etc. They are all priced in the $120 - $150 range and have a lifetime guarantee. They go on and off easily and have neoprene pads to protect the paint.

My wife uses Cortech saddlebags about the same way as you plan to use yours. A few times a year, mainly when we are going on trips. I think they were $130 - $160. They perform well and come with rain covers. I used to use a set of Cortech Sport saddlebags until I got my Thibault rack / GIVI bag setup. They also worked real good and were just a touch smaller than the standard Cortech saddlebags. I have those for sale on eBay right now and you can see a link to them here.

Soft bags are probably the way to go on the spyder.I only use the bags for long trips and w/the ole lady.2 bags I recommend are dowco nylonbags w/waterproof covers built in to them and are easy to hook on,set of 3 including the tank and tail bag will set you back about 140-150,shop at discount places and they are cheaper. Also Aerostitch has some really good heavy duty bags for 170-190.I bought the yellow saddle and tank bags for extended trips and packed a s**t load of stuff for 10 days in them no problem, food and camper stove also.I have a yellow spyder and the aerostitch yellow bags matched perfectly. Both companies provided extra straps for the hookup and they are finish friendly wont scratch your paint.Good Luck!:2thumbs:

I tried to put some Cortech bags on, but couldn't get them to work without covering up the passenger foot-pegs. There is a guy selling the Dowco bags on craigslist that I was thinking about buying. Will I have the same mounting issues? Do you happen to have any pictures?

thanks for the help,
Brandon

I just looked up Dowco bags and a few of their saddlebags seem to have an exaggerated wedge shape as compared to Cortech bags. They may solve your problem. With any of those bags, look into the reverse mounting (narrow part forward) to maximize passenger footpeg access.
