• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sad key ?

Cindy's 2015 F3-s has had a bad key displayed on the screen , we took it out waited 30 seconds put it back in and it's ok. Anybody else have this issue . No rhyme or Reason when it happens once when first start up key was sitting in switch for a few days, once after fuel up , once after inside a store .

dess code

Have had this happen several times only had to take the key out and reinsert it and it cleared should I be concerned, is this an indication of a soon to happen failure? I have a 2015 rt.

Depends....

If it is showing a DESS error or code....you should have it checked. It could be fine but then again could get worse and then not work at all...:lecturef_smilie: there have been some issues with this kind of problem....

Once it happens once, it is likely to return. Murphy says it will occur when the most inconvenient to be stranded. Know problems with the DESS system. Your other option is to have the system turned off so it will not trouble you again.

I also have a F3-S. I have the problem with both keys from time to time. I have a case open with BRP on the issue.

CLARIFICATION

IMO _ the KEY symbol and the DESS symbol are TWO separate issues and I don't think they are related to each other ....... if this isn't the case could someone please correct my thought on this ..... Mike

My dealer declined or was unable to disable the DESS. Module was replaced with an updated version per the dealer. All good now.

sad key

the DESS issues seem to plague the 2014's and early 2015's. Seems that past mid year ~May 2015 there was a change to the newer parts and it went away. Look @ tour swing arm for the born on date of your bike!

My F3S manufacture date is 01/2015, yet I've had no encounter with this issue. How known is this issue? Recall?

Thank you for your replies I will call our dealer and bring it in .

Bad DESS

I am having the issue with both keys. I opened a case with BRPcares and they said to have dealer check the DESS and if bad they would replace it. Sounds like a known issue.

now that if I disbaled the cov

I know this can be done using BUDS Megatech but would there be insurance implications? I know that if I disabled the immobilisor here in the UK I wouldn't be covered for theft.

Disabling the DESS does not make the bike any more or less likely to be stolen. The DESS can be defeated with simple software with or without a chipped key. It ONLY serves to keep the owner from driving his own bike. The design of the system is bad so it never actually helped security. In reality the system on the 2013 and older bikes was much better and actually worked.
