I have been only 160 miles on a day ride (along Lake Mead to Overton and return), but am finding the stock seat comfortable. Should be fine for 300+ miles on Death Valley loop and 500 miles Extraterrestrial loop. By comparison:
The stock solo on my 2003 XLH 883 Sportster was uncomfortable at about 50 miles. The replacement seat was good for more than 500 mile days.
The stock 2 up seat on my 2002 1200 Sportster Sport was good for all day.
The stock 2 up seat on my 2012 Triumph Bonneville was uncomfortable at about 50 miles. I rode it 300 miles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and pain would be more accurate than uncomfortable. I bought it in SoCal, when there was no Triumph dealership in Las Vegas. By the time I rode across the Mojave desert, the Yuli brothers had opened up their store at South Decatur and 215 beltway.
That was my first stop in the valley, before continuing home. Brad Yuli had a touring seat in stock and even gave a modest credit for the stock seat. Unfortunately, the Yuli brothers retired, selling the business to Chris and Antonio (silent partner). After buying my Moto Guzzi there and getting “acquainted” with Chris, I will not do business there, again.
