• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ryding after dark

I love ryding at night, and the lights on my RSS may be to bright if that is possible. That said I am very wary of dear with the Spyder. When I had my Nomad I had loud pipes and used to get home from work at 5 in the morning and never had a problem with dear.

Early riding

I used to have to commute to work and was on the I-way by 0530 every day of the week. Riding or running in the early hours BS (before sunrise) is a very nice quiet time of the day.

Had our lights adjusted once.

After that we've always considered them better than average. A vast improvement over our older bikes.

You're only as inferior as you allow yourself to be....

Taking delivery tomorrow. Doubt I'll see you around. Like I said in another post, the only Spyders I seem to see are those in showrooms and in the back of the dealership being worked on for some problem or another. You would think that with all of the prior knowledge available on tried and true two-wheel bike successes that BRP could have taken that information and applied it toward the Spyder to make an outstanding machine instead of a putting out - - in my opinion - - an apparent compilation of mistakes and poor design. With each new model year comes more posts of problems complained about, and in some cases, continuing problems. I owned a number of Gold Wings and NEVER did I have the problems with them that I did with this RT. In fact, I had NO problems with my Wings. Why change from a Wing to the Spyder? It "looked" like a neat concept and a machine I would enjoy riding, owning, and I would encourage other people to buy. Suggesting anyone buy one is the last thing I would do. And of course, this is my own opinion but I guess stating one's opinion on this website is not allowed. It's go along with the mob or else.... Since my Spyder is now history to me, so is this site. I would also like to add: Ride Safe!

At least DaveNur got in one last Spyder bashing before his departure...

Its worth making some adjustments to the lighting system to be comfortable with night riding.. after all given the temps across much of the country right now its hard to ride in daylight.. I ride at least half the time at night and love it

I just wish he'd tell us which GoldWing forums he hangs around in...
It might be fun to see how he plays with the other children over there! :D
HEY DAVE!!!
Don't forget to put your foot down at stop si...
Oh! That's right; he never rode his spyder! :roflblack:

I just hope he goes and stays there. If you have something, you dislike for whatever reason, sell it, get away from anything with it.
I have belonged to GWRRA for several years, associate member, ST1100 and now, Spyder. They are good bikes, bullet proof, no. If they never have problems, why do they have the Gold Book for members with problems, or the ad for the rescue service.

These days I rarely ryde at night...my night vision's not that good and I'm not comfortable with it any more. I do it from time to time, but not that often.

The lights on my RT are far better than lights I've had on two wheelers over the years, though.

:agree: It's he** to get old!

My Grampa Denman used to say that there was nothing really wrong with getting old, but it was a little bit "unhandy" at times...

Lumens.

I have read that at age 50, you need twice the amount of Lumens (measure of light) to see the same things as you did at age 20. So, as far as I'm concerned, bring on the Lumens! <M>

I have had to adjust my low beams as they were too high. but the lighting on this machine is far superior to the bikes and sleds that I have ridden. I love to ride at night, as it is easier on the eyes, but I do stick to the speed limit and drive defensively, as the deer are out to get me......

Just sayin'............

I guess I was lucky with the dealer prep on the Bug as the light seem just about right as to aim. I do find that the fogs do help to light the close in road surface a bit better for pot hole etc avoidance.

Ride safe,

I prefer to ryde in the Dark but then I'm Part Vampire :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Night Shift

both me and dw work nights i leave @ 3am daily.. that said, i dont have a problem with my lighting other than people pull over from time to time, in the area where the road is rough with some of the bouncing they must think i am flashing them.

The flashing is an artifact of the projector lenses. On low beam it can even be noticed at nighgt, as the cut off top of the beam passes in and out of view. Lower your headlight aim a bit and they won't notice as much.
