• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ryder mirror opinions!!!

I need your opinions about mirrors! Driving a Toyota Sienna, I am used to my big mirrors. These would be way too big for my spyder!! Bigger mirrors for the spyder would be great. I need to be able to see in all angels possible.
I have read several threads on mirror extenders, and where some of you added another set of mirrors.

I need to know why you made your choice? and, What difference did it make when you made your change in them?
I am hoping to make my final decision based on what you post.

Thanks spyder ryders!!!

I added the KewlMetal extenders.

I thought the vision on the sides (the most important part) was fine. But, the original positioning did not allow me to see much behind me without moving my head and body to create that view.

I now see the sides AND behind just fine.

I have huge mirrors on my Subaru Tribeca. The ones on the Spyder are tiny compared -- but, are just fine. Larger mirrors would be an added aerodynamic drag -- IMHO to little purpose.

:agree: How are you getting 39mpg? Are you driving below the speed limit??

I added bar end mirrors, Now I have two sets. I will the the stock mirrors on for now. I want to mount speakers where the stok mirror mount.

Roaddog did this and I have to get these - get the little circular mirrors that stick onto those mirrors - then you will be able to see alot better.

I did this as well. I stuck them to the spot on the mirror where all I could see was my hands. I pointed them outward so I can see vehicles that are right next to me.

Tried looking for them in the autoparts store but all I walked out of there with was a couple of relays and some cute little skull air holder tire thingies.

I guess I have to go to the bike store to get those mirrors. Ones in the auto parts store are too big.

I got mine at an auto parts store. They're about 1.5 inches across and are adjustable. I think they only cost a couple bucks. I was going to buy the mirror extenders, but I don't need to now.

A lot depends on you.

I am a small person and the stock mirrors work just fine for me. I have one spot that I need to turn my head about 5 degrees, just to make sure it is clear ( mostly of motorcycles and small vehicles ) Generally, I see more of what is going on behind me than I do from my Jeep.

But a lot of people give the mirror extensions high praise.

And, by the way, what is up with all the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!s in your postings????????????????????

Yeah bro. You and Magic Man need to get on the ball and get these out to the general public. :2thumbs:

Had the stock mirrors. Kewl Metal Extensions well worth the money.

I turn my head too. Mirrors are not designed to replace looking around a bit. But the human head is not designed to rotate 180 degrees. Good mirrors are a great safety tool.

You really need to see behind you better than you can with the stock setup.

The riser kit was another big improvement all around. Really don't know why BRP doesn't do this stock. With the risers you can go to handle bar mount mirrors.

The handle bar mount mirrors are another quantum imporvement. They give much more viewable area and really work great for backing up too(something that I did not expect).

A word of warning, the mirrors are plastic, don't use a razor blade to remove the foam or glue left by the spot mirrors, they scratch very easily, been there, done that!

There is another option. Somewhere on this site. One :spyder2: owner mounted a wireless backup camera on their bike. It looked pretty good. I'm thinking about this same mod myself in the future.
